Travis R. Pickering

Travis R. Pickering, 84, of DeSoto, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2018.

He was born to Hubbard and Bessie Pickering on May 31, 1934, in Poynor, Texas.

After graduation from LaPoynor High School, he moved to Dallas. A couple of years later he married the love of his life, Nellie Jane Dickerson, in 1954.

He retired from General Motors, Inc. after 35 years of service.

His passions were reading anything about religion and he knew from a young age that he wanted to be a preacher of the Gospel of Christ.

He would travel with his family from Dallas to Poynor to preach every Sunday at the Poynor Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nellie Jane PIckering; his daughter, Brenda Rollins of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Comfort of DeSoto, and Julie Miller of Ferris, Texas; great grandchildren, Payton Miller, Dani MIller, Codi MIller, Charly Miller of

Ferris, and Ryan Comfort of Waxahachie, Texas.

Barbara J. Morris

Memorial services for Barbara J. Morris, 80, of Frankston, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, in Eureka Springs, AR, with the Rev. Kaye Lee officiating.

Mrs. Morris passed away on Sept. 8, 2018, in Tyler.

Barbara Jean Morris was born Sept. 19, 1937, in Seattle, Washington, to the late Leon Dallman and Marion Henderson Dallman.

She had lived in Frankston for 27 years, moving from Monterey, California.

She enjoyed growing roses, had worked in retail sales and was an Independent follower of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Londa May and Bonnie Rodriguez.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Morris of Frankston; three children, Michael Stroup, Stephen Stroup and Eric Morris; three sisters, Josephine Stephens, Winona Joy and Lorretta Thomas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Sharon Kay Reynolds

Sharon Kay Reynolds, 68, of Jacksonville, Texas, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at UT Health East Texas Hospital in Jacksonville.

Her memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Frankston with the Rev. Michael Fraley presiding.

Burial will be at a later date at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.

Sharon was born May 16, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to the late Art and Grace Allstun.

All her education was in Houston.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Frankston and loved her church and especially her Sunday School class members.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Michelle Freyer, of Waco, Texas, Michelle’s husband Greg, and her grandchildren, Justin, Ethan and Mason Freyer, all of Waco, her son Michael Cheatham of Missouri, her brother Les and his wife Marsha of Berryville, Texas, her sister-in-law Eula Allstun, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Larry Allstun and Ricky Allstun, sister Carolyn Matthews. Also by her paternal grandparents Thomas and Carrie Belle Allstun of Missouri and her maternal grandparents Jack and Hazel Pearce.

Sharon spent her last years at Bonner Street Plaza in Jacksonville where she was an active client.

Those who helped care for her had a special place in her heart.

She had many friends at Bonner Place. She was very involved in Bingo, playing and calling, and all her appointments were made around scheduled card games.

Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Sharon will miss her.

Donations may be made to the Rainbow House of the Frankston United Methodist Church.

Wayne Socia

A funeral service for Wayne Socia, 81, of Frankston, was scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 26, at First Baptist Church in Frankston with the Rev. Earl Socia, the Rev. Scott Wiley and the Rev. George Folmar officiating.

Mr. Socia was laid to rest at Frankston City Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

He passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, in Frankston.

Wayne was born April 5, 1937, in Athens to Henry and Bessie (Cecil) Socia.

Wayne was named Citizen of the Year in Frankston and he coached Little League Baseball.

He was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church, the William Foster Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Frankston, Jacksonville Lions Club and Rotary Club.

He worked in Arp and Frankston for Southwestern Electric Co. now Oncor.

Wayne was a volunteer fire fighter, a farmer, a rancher who loved his cows and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Glenn Socia, Roy Dean Socia and grandson, Harvey Barr.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 61 years, Marilyn Socia of Frankston; son, David Socia; daughters, Alice Socia and Sue Barr, all of Frankston. He is also survived by his brothers, Marvin Socia and wife Sherry, Melvin Socia and wife Pat, Earl Socia and wife Cookie.

Joe Wiggins

A funeral service for Joe Wiggins, 68, of Athens, was held September 26, 2018, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston.

The Rev. Keith Knissen officiated.

He passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, in Athens.

Joe was born Nov. 2, 1949, in Kilgore to James Barton and Martha Barnett.

Joe was a member of Poynor Baptist Church in Poynor and the William Foster Masonic Lodge AF & AM in Frankston.

He was a rancher and a true cowboy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jamie Reynolds and Juanita Collins.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Joe Wiggins and wife Amber of Flint, Frank Wiggins and wife Kelly of Poynor, Mackie Lee Wiggins of St. Francis, Wisconsin; daughter, Kaci Sebastian and husband Donald of Bryan; J.B. Wiggins of Longview, Clyde Wiggins of Kilgore and Harry Wiggins of N.C.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica, Julie, Savannah, Shane Cade, Devin and Brett; and several nieces and nephews.
