Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Owena Miles

A funeral service for Owena Miles, 92, of Frankston, was held Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Frankston with the Rev. Scott Wiley and the Rev. Jim Salles officiating.

She will be laid to rest at Tyler Memorial Cemetery in Tyler. Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston.

Mrs. Miles passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, in Jacksonville. Owena was born March 16, 1925, in Shephard, Texas to Roscoe and Alma (Owens) Cutler.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Frankston. She worked as a secretary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Miles and brothers, Harry, Doyle, Gerel, Douglas, Odell, and R.W. Cutler, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Ruth Price of Frankston; sister, Mary Caroline Murphy of Tyler; grandchildren, Jeffery Scott Price and Jennifer Lyn Lamon.

She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Alice Elan Lamon and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bobby Allbright, Chuck Goocher, Beverly Lott, Eddy Secrest and Tony Dennis.

Timothy Edward Blackmon

Timothy Edward Blackmon was born Nov. 21, 1959, to Sterling R. Blackmon and Dorothy M. Blackmon in Kountze, Texas.

His God-fearing parents instilled in him a deep devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His older brothers, Glynn, and Randy gave him many nephews and nieces to enjoy growing up around.

His loving cousins also have many fond memories with Timmy.

Tim fondly anticipated those long phone calls from his Uncle Buddy; as he was faithful to call, joke and laugh with him in his last years. His extended families: The Boitnotts, the Goates and all of the Dickinsons kept sending their love, on a weekly basis.

Tim and Susie Blackmon were married March 1, 1986, and have three fine and upstanding sons. Garret Sterling Blackmon, age 30, lives in Austin. Colin Riley Blackmon, age 25, lives in Dallas. Timothy Elijah Blackmon, age 24, lives in Frankston. Their Dad gave of himself in time to explain and lovingly guide them as they grew.

Tim had a witty sense of humor we will all never forget, even when he was in terrible pain. Even in the worst pain, he would be praising God, and never passed by a chance to tell someone about Jesus.

He had a love for woodworking, photography, and telling stories from the oilfield or as a kid growing up. He gave of his time to the boys’ sports programs, showing compassion for each boy. He was dearly loved and is already missed. We know that, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” This man is no longer suffering daily. As his sweet mother said before she passed, “I better see all of you on the other side.”

Tim is survived by his caretaker, and loving wife; his three sons, Garret and Colin and Timothy Elijah Blackmon; his two elder brothers, Randy and Glynn

A funeral service was held Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Frankston with the Rev. Scotty Wiley officiating. He was laid to rest at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Services were under the direction Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.
