Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Hettie V. Patton Allen

On February 2, 1927, Richard Patton and Willie Mae Hafford welcomed their daughter, Hettie V. Patton Allen.

She would grow into a young woman in their home in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Hettie attended Nacogdoches school. She later married L. A. Allen and relocated to Frankston.

She attended the Faith Temple House of Deliverance.

Hettie always kept the word of the Lord close to her heart; and carried herself as a Proverbs 31 woman. Her worth was far above rubies. She attended Faith Temple House of Deliverance under pastorate of Pastor Alice Cumby. She served as the Church Mother for fifteen years and Sunday School Secretary for over forty years. Mother Allen served the Lord faithfully until she was called home on May 28, 2018.

Hettie is preceded in death by her husband, L. A. Allen; her parents, Richard and Willie Patton; four daughters, Tenice Williams, Francine Allen, Brenda Smith, Maxine Allen; two sons, Andrew Allen and L. H. Allen; two brothers, Sam Bo Patton and F. J. Patton; and three sisters, Estella Preston, Dorothy Dean and Bobbie Lee Patton.

She will be cherished in the hearts of many including seven sons, Marcellus Allen (Alfreda), Rickey Allen, Gary Allen (Felicia), James Allen (JoAnn), Marcus Allen (Francis), Dayton Williams and Fredrick Kemp (Katrice); three daughters, Earnestine Rainy (Jeffrey), Sandrew Ellis (Willie Henderson) and Mary Hill; two brothers, Odis Patton and R. B. Patton; one sister, Anna Patton; and a special niece, Emma Clark. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of dear family and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Frankston High School Auditorium on Saturday June 2, 2018, under the directorial care of Rosewood Premier Funeral Associates of Longview.


Wanda May Durrett

A funeral service for Wanda May Durrett, 80, of Frankston, was held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Hilltop Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Livingston and Pastor Marco Johnson officiating.

She was laid to rest at Garden Oaks Memorial Park in Berryville.

Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Wanda passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Tyler.

She was born May 28, 1938 in Levelland, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Maudie (Gee) Droigk.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Phil Durrett and wife Sheryl of Slidell, La. and Susan Turnipseed and husband Steve of Villages, Fl.

She is also survived by her husband, Troy Durrett; two grandchildren, Phillip Curtis Durrett of Houston and Kathryn Durrett of Slidell, La. and one great-grandson, Carter Phillip Durrett.

Pallbearers were David Durrett, Roy Durrett, Phillip Durrett, Raymond Johnson, Joe Hughes, Kyle Allison and Chris Meduzia.

John Preston Wroe

John Preston Wroe, 93, went to be with our Lord Friday, June 8, 2018 in Decatur.

The funeral was Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial in Aurora Cemetery.

Rick Ross officiated. Pallbearers were Larry Yates, Larry Dunlap, James Ford, B.D. Lowe, H.L. Ross, and Roger Armstrong.

John was born on November 12, 1924, to Sam and Artie (LeVassar) Wroe in Frankston.

He was united in marriage to Christine Norton on March 11, 1950, in Decatur. John was a retired instrument electrician for American Oil Company. He was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ. John served his country in the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Christine Wroe of Decatur; his sons, John Kent Wroe and wife Teresa of Pearland, Troy Scott Wroe and wife Cheryl of Prosper; his daughter, Debra Annette Brown and husband James of Iowa Colony, Texas; his grandchildren Amy Sharpe, James Cole Brown, Aaron Brown, and Felicia Wroe; his great grandchildren, Emma, Sophie, Owen, Archie, Hunter, and Annie; and a host of friends.

Don Rushing

A funeral service for Don Rushing, 80, of LaRue, was held Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston.

He passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in LaRue.

Don was born August 1, 1937 in Chandler, Oklahoma, to Dallas and Edna (Bottoms) Rushing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Reneé Rushing; four brothers and one sister.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 1⁄2 years, Mary Rushing of LaRue; daughters, Shelia Jernigan of Port Lavaca, Sandra Ducker of LaRue, Shara Gentry of Nevada; and son, Darrell Rushing of LaRue.

He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Deal of Justin and Thelma Boltz of California; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren including Chris and Nathan Ducker of LaRue; five great-great grandchildren and multitude of nieces and nephews.




Geraldine Nancy (Davis) Sexton

A funeral service for Geraldine Nancy (Davis) Sexton, 74, was held Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in the Chapel of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston. The Rev. Jerry Chamberlain officiated. Burial followed in Garden Oaks Cemetery in Berryville under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Geraldine was born June 10, 1944, in Monroe, LA and passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, in Berryville.

Geraldine has been a resident of Three Points in Berryville since 1979.

Geraldine was a loving wife of 52 years before going home to be with the Lord. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her beloved parents, the Rev. Gerald Davis Sr. and wife, Remigia.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Sam Sexton; son, Christopher Sexton and wife Kathleen; grandchildren, Shawn, Eric, and Staci, several great-grandchildren; sister, Reba Byrd and husband Richard; brothers, the Rev. Frank Davis and wife Carol, the Rev. Stephen Davis and wife Barbara, and Gerald “Jerry” Davis and wife Debbie; and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers were Shawn Sexton, the Rev. Clint Chamberlain, C.J. O’Neal, Bob Metcalf, Chad Crenshaw and Randy Sexton.
