Carolyn Ivey

A celebration of life memorial service for Carolyn Ivey, 74, of Poynor is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Bethel Christian Church with the Rev. Mike Baldwin officiating.

Bethel Christian Church is located off Hwy. 19 North, on the corner of CR 3822 and CR 3817 in Athens.

Mrs. Ivey died peacefully on Dec. 16, 2015, at home after a brief illness.

Carolyn Ray Shirley Ivey was born June 11, 1941, in Birthright, Texas, the daughter of the late Ellis N. Shirley and the late Mabel Boyd Shirley Goggans.

On June 8, 1956, she married the love of her life Buddy Grover Ivey, Jr.

They shared the love of the outdoors, camping, boating, skiing and motorcycles.

They were very active in the Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club in Dallas for several years.

Carolyn held leadership roles in the Golden Eagles M.C., serving as treasurer in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

In addition to raising their three children, Carolyn was an accountant in the private sector for 20+ years in Dallas. After moving to Poynor, she began her 30+ year career as office manager for Tidmore Contractors in Frankston.

She was also employed at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Coffield Unit, Tennessee Colony, for 10 years.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Buddy Grover Ivey, Jr; sons Buddy Wayne Ivey, Sr. and wife Becky of Rowlett, Bobby Ivey and wife Brenda of Frankston, Bradley Ivey and wife Sheila of Poynor; sisters Delores Brown of Superior, MT, Linda Campbell and husband Bob of Avinger, Texas, Peggy Smith and husband Gene of Houston; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Ellis N. Shirley; mother Mabel Boyd Shirley Goggans; step-father W. Carl Goggans; brother Jerrell D. Goggans and one great grandson.

Mary Ann Beard Randall

Mary Ann Beard Randall, 81, of Cash, Texas, passed away on Dec. 26, 2015, in Richardson.

She was born March 18, 1934, in Frankston.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Alex and Winnie Beard; her brothers T.L. Beard, B.J. “Blue” Beard, D.A. “Doodle” Beard and T.E. “Pete” Beard; her sisters Betty Beard Reese and Gladys Beard Overton.

Mary is survived by her children Kelly Randall (Sherry), Cheryl Randall (Daniel) and Jeff Randall; her grandchildren Ray Hambrick (Heather), Jay Randall and Scott Randall; her sister Novalene “Sis” Beard Burris; brother-in-law Bill Overton; sister-in-law Beverly Beard; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family is appreciative to Mary’s good friends Debbie Payne and Tod McMahan and his family.

Thank you Tod for taking such good care of our mother throughout the years. You were like a son to her. Mary had a loving and giving heart and she was so proud of all her children and grandchildren.

Like her mother, she loved working in her yard and spending time with family and friends.

Mary also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas or Shreveport to play the slots and was an avid shuffleboard player.

Prior to her retirement in 2011, Mary was an accountant for Morgan, Davis & Co. in Greenville.

Family and friends are invited to visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

This will be followed by a graveside service at Frankston City Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Richard Bolt

Richard Bolt passed away Monday Jan. 4, 2016, in Tyler.

He was born Jan. 11, 1939, in Charleston, WV to Isaac and Louise Bolt.

Richard worked as a delivery truck driver for a bread company.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle Charles Black.

Survivors include his beloved wife Barbara Bolt of Frankston; sons Eddie Bolt and wife Stacy of NM, Rick Bolt and wife Suzanne of FL, Gerald Bolt and wife Ashlei of Lubbock; daughters Becky Carmichael and husband Sam of Florida, Pam Staples of Florida, Brittany Lobbs and husband Buddy of Ben Wheeler; step-son Duane Pagett of Amarillo; step-daughters Darlene Burns and husband Mike of Mt. Selman, Lisa Henderson of Berryville, Sheila Zugg and husband Phillip of Frankston; sisters Charlotte Bolt of Florida, Sydney Evans of Florida; twenty eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Linda Lee Moore

Services for Linda Lee Moore, 77, of Frankston, will be scheduled for a later date.

Mrs. Moore passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, in Tyler.

She was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Muncie, Indiana, to James and Jean Elizabeth Graham Callahan.

Earline retired as an administrative secretary for the D.E.A and I.N.F. She was a member of the Frankston First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her husband Joseph Moore of Frankston; sons Joseph Patrick Moore of Frankston, David Brandt Moore of Houston; and daughter Laura L. Mabe of Tom Ball.

She is also survived by a granddaughter Jessica Elizabeth Hale and great grandson Sean Joseph Hale.

Victoria ‘Vicki’ Cumm

A Mass of Christian Burial for Victoria “Vickie” Cumm, 70, of Frankston, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Frankston with Father Zach Kunnakkattuthara officiating.

She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Palestine. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mrs. Cumm passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2016.

She was born May 8, 1945, in Grand Haven, Michigan to Doyle and Wilhelmina (Pellegrom) Sparling.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Donald Cumm of Frankston; sons Donald Cumm, Jr. and wife Rosa of Colorado, James Cumm and wife Patricia of Georgia; daughter Diane Cumm of Irving; brothers Glenn Sparling and wife Yvonne, Douglas Sparling and wife Diane, all of Grand Haven, Michigan; sister Sue Wiedner of Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren Adara Cumm, Gabriel Cumm, Katrina Cumm, Shayde Cumm, Samantha Gilbert and Urijah Cumm.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 22. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and rosary recitation will begin at 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Harvey Wane Davis

Harvey Wane Davis, 61, passed away on Jan. 6, 2016 in Frankston.

Davis was born Jan. 23, 1954, in Henderson County to hte partents of the late Isaacd and Gerlean Wofford Davis.

He received his education through the Brownsboro Independent School District and spent his life farming.

He was married to Bettye G. Warrren on Dec. 24, 1977. They had one child, Desmon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Wilbert Davis, Benny Ray Davis and Carl Davis; three sisters Pattie Green, Janie M. Davis and Leana Mae Smith.

His is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bettye G. Davis of Frankston; son Desmon Davis and wife Cindy of Flint; one grandchild Evan Davis of Flint; five brothers Lorenzo Davis of Tyler, Morris Davis and wife Jo Ann, Welton Davis and wife Mandy Carol of Dallas, Wilmon Davis and wife Annie of Frankston, Jimmy Davis, Sr. and wife Mary of Tyler; one sister Susie Warren and husband Herbert of Frankston; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A home-going celebration of life for Davis was held Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Mt. Olive Sandflat Baptist Church in Frankston.

The Rev. Amel Marshall was the host pastor and the Rev. Lonnie Ross was the eulogist.

Pallbearers were Kevins Davis, Michael Warren, Lee Warren, Jimmy Davis Jr., Kirby Davis and Calvin Warren.

Honorary pallbearers were John Earl and Danny Green.

Davis was buried in Mt. Olive Sandflat Cemetery.

Lorena Vaye Jones

A funeral service for Lorena Vaye Jones “Grandmother” 100, of Frankston, was held Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Frankston Assembly of God Church in Frankston. The Rev. J. A. Griffin and the Rev. Michael Griffin officiated.

She was laid to rest in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Frankston. Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mrs. Jones went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, in Frankston.

She was born June 20, 1915, in Frankston to John B. and Flara Bizzell. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Frankston Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William “Buster” Jones; sons Robert Dan Jones, Tommy Jones, Johnnie Jones, Melvin “Shag” Bizzell, and Mike Jones; son-in-law, RJ Grubbs; and grandsons, Rob Grubbs and Randy Terrell.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Hazel Grubbs, Linda Terrell and husband Rex, Pat Henderson and husband Ronnie, Jerry Jones and wife Joni, Steve Jones and wife Gail, all of Frankston. Lorena had 23 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, 66 great-great grandchildren and 13 great-great-great grandchildren.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Tim Henderson, Tom Mathis, John Rupert, James Butler, Sam Wells and Jonathan Peters. Honorary pallbearers were all her grandsons.

Jeffery D. Wright

A small family in a small East Texas town is mourning the loss of beloved family member, Jeffery D. Wright.

He is the son of Jeffery Wright and Dolores Grimsley, and brother to Della A. Morris, Jimmy Wright and Dolores Forester.

Those close to him would tell you he’s a simple man and sometimes overly generous. If someone was in need of help, he was known to go out of his way to help them, sometimes giving his last dollar or the shirt off his back.

His mother’s side of the family originated from Spain. Wanting to know more about his heritage, he began researching his ancestry and followed a trail set before him that lead to South America. Shortly after, he read a short note from an anthropologist pertaining to the Aztec royal bloodline.

He learned about a certain physical trait that only the Aztec royal bloodlines and their descendants carry, a physical trait that he himself had. Uncle Jeff had then found the answers to some of his questions he’s had for a very long time. Showing me what he’d uncovered, and seeing the light of excitement in his eyes, family members say they have never seen him any happier. Family members said they will never forget that day or his words, “My place in this world is mine now, and it belongs to no one else”

Only one year later, Jan. 22, 2016, he slipped the mortal bonds of this world, and made his way back home, back home to God.

The house of God has many rooms, and one of those rooms will be his place among God, and it will belong to him.

He is survived by his sister Della Morris and her two children, Michael Ray Morris II and Misty Lee Christine Sanford, and Misty’s children: Cotton C. Hanna, Whitney Nicole Hanna, Jesse Lee Sanford, and Justin Ray Sanford, the children of his sister Dolores Forester, her son Eddie Forester, daughter Edie Forester and grand daughter Christine Forester.
