Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Bobby Lee Kindle

Funeral services for Bobby Lee Kindle, 79, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville with Bishop Gary Murray and the Rev. Benny Walker officiating.

Burial will follow at Tecula Cemetery.

Mr. Kindle passed away peacefully at his home Sept. 1.

He was born in Gallatin to the late John Willie Kindle and Hazel Gullion Kindle on Aug. 3, 1929.

He lived in Berryville 33 years before returning to Cherokee County in October of 2004.

He was a retired member of Heat and Frost Workers Local 21 Dallas, joining the union in 1952. He retired in 1990.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents and a brother Willie Eugene (Dean) Kindle.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenda Sue Lake Kindle of Jacksonville; one son, Robert Kindle; two daughters, Lea Anne Ousley and husband Mark and Kristina Kay Dickerson and husband David; 6 grandsons, William Vernon Whitely IV, Robert Andrew Kindle and wife Jana, Mackie Lee Wiggins, David Cy Dickerson, Dean Cole Dickerson, and Deason Cash Dickerson; one great-granddaughter, Riley Faye Kindle; one sister, Wanda Jean Patillo and husband Charlie of San Antonio; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kindle was a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather. His family was everything to him.

He was a mentor to so many in his life always wanting others to prosper.

His family would like to express their thanks to his caregivers from Legacy Hospice of Tyler who helped to make his last days comfortable and dignified.

Pallbearers will be Carly Arrington, James Dunnahoe, Troy Dunnahoe, Todd Dunnahoe, Herschel Wade and Wilburn Wade.

Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Ivy.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Autry Funeral Home.

Jack E. Smith, Sr.

Funeral services for Jack E. Smith, Sr. , 83, of Frankston, were held Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Frankston Assembly of God church with the Revs. J. A. Griffin  and Mike Griffin officiating.

Burial interment followed in the Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Autry Funeral Home Frankston.

Mr. Smith was born Feb. 17, 1925 in Peelton, Texas to the late William M. and Beulah Hill Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Jack E. Smith, Jr.

Mr. Smith passed away Aug. 31, 2008 in Tyler. He retired from the Texas Highway Department.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bobbie Inez Walker Smith of Frankston; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria Barnes and husband Billy of Frankston, Rebecca Brown and husband David of Frankston, Donna Townsend and husband Michael of Garland, Martha Lange and husband Bobby of Frankston; son and daughter-in-law, Reggie Smith and wife Louan of Bullard; sisters, Bonnie Risley of Garland and Jean Adams of Rowlett; brother, Kenneth Smith of Frankston; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Britt Bacon, Aaron Doan, Nathan Jones, Rhett Lange, Cameron Townsend and Ted Wallace.

Honorary pallbearer was Ryan Barnes.

Eddie Pauline Houston Johnson Alcorn

Eddie Pauline Houston Johnson Alcorn was born Saturday, June 22, 1918. Her parents were Edward Chester Houston and Elvie Pauline Usher Houston of Alto Texas.

Mrs. Johnson was a Beautician in Ft. Worth from 1947 until 2000. For 47 years of those years, she owned and operated her own shop.

In 2001, she moved to Frankston, Texas.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Frankston and the Methodist Scarlet Ladies Red Hat Club. For the last year and a half she resided at the Frankston Health Care Center.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irving Alcorn and her daughter, Judith Ann Boulivare McClendon

She is survived by; a son; Paul David and wife Toni Marie Johnson of Fresno Calif; a daughter, Jenny and husband Jerry Beard of Frankston; a son-in-law, Jimmy McClendon of Wichita Falls and two step-sons; Barry and wife Kris Alcorn and  Byron and wife Melissa Alcorn both of Fort Collins, and a sister-in-law, Mary Houston of Carrollton, Ga.  

She also has 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Pauline Johnson will be held at a later date.

Charles K. “Bud” Clair

Funeral services for Charles K. “Bud” Clair, 88, of Frankston were held Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Frankston with the Rev. Jeff Godwin officiating.

Burial followed at Larue Cemetery.

Mr. Clair passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 in Tyler.

He was born May 26, 1920 in Grand Rapids, Mi. to Charles Louis Clair and Ruth McCary Clair.

Mr. Clair served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II, was a member of Larue Baptist Church, a Mason in Harlton and was a superintendent for Hunt Oil Company for 49 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margaret Sarton and Millie Clair, and granddaughter Tiffany Clair.

Survivors include his wife, Merle Clair of Frankston; sons, Cary Clair and wife Shera of Houston, Robert “Bobby” Clair of Euless, Charles Lee Clair of Lubbock and Mel Dunham and wife Zoeanna of Euless; daughter, Betty Henson and husband Jerry of Granbury; brother, Erwin Clair and wife Ann of Fort Worth; sister, Arlene Roberts of Amarillo; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Dustin Dunham, Tell Choat, Todd Garner, Billy Cramer, Robert Magee, and Ryan Bristow.

Honorary Pallbearers were the retirees and employees of Hunt Oil Company.

James Jason Lade

Funeral services for James Jason Lade, of Longview, were held Monday, Sept. 22, at Mobberly Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bob Waldman and Dr. Glynn Stone officiating.

Graveside services followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.

He went to join his Father In Heaven on Thursday, September 18, 2008.

Jason was born in Tyler.  He graduated from Frankston High School and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He made his home in Longview and was a prudent businessman who loved the challenge of new business opportunities. On April 9, 2005, Jason married the love of his life, Kelsey Leann Rae. He was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Kinsey Alexandra Lade, on November 2, 2007.

Jason loved his family.  He delighted in family gatherings and was often the last to leave.  Jason also loved his friends. A sports lover, he often invited all of his friends over to barbecue and watch whatever sporting event he could find. He lived to make the people he cared for happy, especially his wife and daughter.  Jason loved to hunt and fish, cars and drag racing, his dogs, and celebrating life in general.  He had an infectious smile and laugh.  His greatest joy in life was watching his daughter grow and learn new things.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather, James William Lade Sr., of Frankston, TX.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of three y

ears, Kelsey Lade, and daughter, Kinsey Lade, of Longview; his father, James William Lade Jr. and wife Cherylyn of Frankston; his mother, Connie Brannon Kitchen and husband Allen Kitchen, of Hallsville; brothers Jeremy Lade and wife Celeste, of Frankston, Jamey Lade and wife Elizabeth , of Tyler, and sister Lindsey Line and husband Tim, of Tyler; grandparents, Louise Lade, of Frankston, and F.O. and Pauline Brannon, of Mountain View, Arkansas; Parents in-law, Tommy and Charlotte Rae, of Longview; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Heart's Way Hospice of North East Texas, 1306 Pine Tree Road, Longview, TX 75604. Friends are invited to attend.

Katherine Benge Metz

Katherine Benge Metz, 88, of Houston died Sept. 14, 2008.

Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Brookside Cemetery in Houston.

Metz was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Metz; her parents, Clyde and Eva Smith Benge of Frankston; a daughter, Karlyn Metz; two brothers, Charlie Benge and John Arnold Benge; and a sister, Clovis McCarley.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy McConathy of Houston; a brother, Grover Benge of Crockett; Ruby Killen of Dallas, Sarah O’Neil of Lancaster, Calif., Ladina Munsch of Encino, Calif., Brenda Owens of Crestview, Fla. And many nieces and nephews.

Adelaide Jackson Milner

Funeral Services for Mrs. Adelaide Jackson Milner, 87, of Frankston are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at First Baptist Church of Frankston, with the Rev. Charlie Jackson, Grady Jackson, the Rev. Gary Dollarhide and the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Burial will be held at Poynor Cemetery in Poynor.

Mrs. Milner died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 in Frankston, Texas.

She was born Saturday, Oct. 30, 1920, in Henderson County, Texas.

Mrs. Milner was employed as a bookkeeper at Lade Ford of Frankston for 30 years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frankston where she served as bookkeeper and a Sunday school teacher for many years.

She transferred her membership to Lakeside Baptist Church of Frankston in 2007.  She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Frankston and was very active in her community.

She was preceded in death by her Father Charlie O. Jackson, Mother Lila Ramsey Jackson and Husband Raymond A. Milner whom she married on Sept. 16, 1939 in Tyler.

Mrs.Milner is survived by her daughters, Anne M Parker and husband Randy of Poynor, Brenda Woodham and husband David Khosrow Shahabi of Dallas, Peggy Smith and husband Steve of Brownsboro; brothers, Grady R Jackson of Corpus Christi and Charlie O Jackson and wife Nancy of Athens; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are Ray Alsobrook, Ken Holliman, Tommy Grayson, David Milner, Roland Alsobrook and Doug Henderson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

She loved to laugh and she loved to play; she left a gentle touch of her Godly spirit on the lives of all who knew her.

Pauline Oliver-Mace

Funeral services for Pauline Oliver-Mace 90, of Palestine were scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating.  

Burial was to be in Roselawn Park.  

Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Oliver-Mace passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at her residence.  

She was born September 5, 1918 in Malone. to Thomas Jerry Jones and Stella Elizabeth Rogers.  

She was a homemaker and a member of Elkhart Church of Christ.  She was active with the Ladies Auxiliary VFW 3907, she also worked with the Cancer Survivor Society and volunteered at Palestine hospitals for 10 years with the Red Cross.

Mrs. Oliver-Mace was preceded in death by her parents, husbands William Newton Oliver in 1988 and Jack Mace in 2000 and one sister Tommie Jo Tubbs.  

She is survived by three daughters, Elnor Rae Ponds and husband James of Texas City, Pat (Prissy) Conaway and husband Gary of Palestine and Huberta Mora of Friendswood; nine grandchildren, James Ray Ponds, Pamela Ponds, William David Ponds, Randall Mora, Trina DiCeccio, Jana Whitaker and Brady Mora,Scott Rivera and her loving and devoted granddaughter Kim Turman; eight great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews including her very special niece Paula Meador.

Pallbearers were to be Jim Ponds, Gary Thomas, and her Shiloh Band Boys, John Morris, Olan Wallace, Charley Eubanks, Tom Hubert.  Honorary pallbearers were to be Troy Lovelady, Joe Edd Gibson, Jeff Smart, Doug Lowe, and her very special people Joe and Dicue Oliver.
