Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Yvonne LaRue Knowles

Funeral services for Yvonne LaRue Knowles, 66, of Frankston were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Frankston with Revs. J.A. Griffin and Rev. Eddie Hilburn officiating.

Burial was in Frankston City Cemetery under direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Knowles died Sunday, Sept. 2, at her home in Frankston.

She was born Oct. 5, 1934 in Throckmorton and was a longtime resident of Frankston.

Mrs. Knowles had a teaching degree from University of Texas at Tyler and was a retired school teacher. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Knowles of Frankston; son and daughter-in-law, James Lee and Jackie Knowles of Hurst; brother, Tommy Tharp of Evansville, IN; a sister, Fran Carter of Wills Point; a grandson, Jacob Lee Knowles and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Smith, Jerry Beard, Billy House, Troy House, Wayne Socia and Mark Tatum.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Johnson, Dusty Tharp, Ricky Tryon and Randall Tryon.

Brenda J. Wallace

Graveside services for Brenda J. Wallace, 58, of Jacksonville were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Providence Cemetery with the Rev. Enid Shepard officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home of Jacksonville.

Mrs. Wallace died Sunday, Aug. 26, at Tyler.

She was born July 18, 1943, in Dallas.

She lived approximately 30 years in the Jacksonville area.

A member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, she was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband, Charles W. Wallace Jr. of Jacksonville; father, W.C. Holden of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Jerry Beasley Jr. of Jacksonville; a daughter, Brenda “Susie” Berry of Winnsboro; a brother, William Holden of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Claudia Ebersfield of Roswell, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

Patsy J. Bailey Lewis Jacobs

Funeral services for Patsy Jean Bailey Lewis Jacobs, 49, of Frankston were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. George Folmar and Ray Pike officiating.

Burial was at Jarratt Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Jacobs died Thursday Aug. 30, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born Feb. 27, 1952 in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Jacobs was a former secretary for Galveston County Memorial Hospital and Nan Travis Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of HillTop Baptist Church in Berryville.

Survivors include her husband, Charles C. Jacobs of Jacksonville; a son, Joseph “J.J.” Lewis Jr. of Frankston; daughters, Pamela Thomas and Wendy Hall, both of Frankston; father and step-mother, Welton and Arlene Bailey of Jacksonville; a sister, Margaret Goodwin of Jacksonville; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Phil Goodwin Jr., Jason Kelly, Chance Hamilton, Kenneth Jacobs, Richard Clark and Herman Winfield Ritter.

Marvin Crawford

POYNOR — Funeral services for Marvin L. Crawford, 90, of Poynor were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at LaRue United Methodist Church, LaRue, with the Revs. Edwin McDaniel and Matt Thomas officiating.

Burial was in Poynor Cemetery under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.

Mr. Crawford died Wednesday, Sept. 5, in an Athens nursing home.

He was born Sept. 18, 1910, in Lamar County to the late Jackson Francis and Lillie Mae Slaton Crawford.

Mr. Crawford lived in Henderson County 60 years, most of them in Malakoff where he owned Crawford Motor Co., and Rodeo Café and Service Station.

He later moved to Athens where he was an automobile dealer and rancher. He was a charter member of Athens Lions Club and member of LaRue United Methodist Church.

Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Cason; grandchild, Kristi Crawford; brothers, Frank, Earl, Reginald, Raymond, Sam, Mark, A.B. and Joe Crawford; and sister, Lois Crawford.

Survivors include a son, Marvin Ray “Buddy” Crawford, Athens; brothers, Clarence Crawford, Hugo, Okla., Lee Mahan, Canton, John Crawford, Fort Worth, and Merele Crawford, Blossom; sisters, Ethel Jackson, Blossom, Winnie Steele, Leonard, and Iris Crawford, Paris; six grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.

Lois Crawford

POYNOR — Funeral services for Lois Crawford, 88, of Poynor were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at LaRue United Methodist Church in LaRue with the Revs. Edwin McDaniel and Matt Thomas officiating.

Burial was in Poynor Cemetery under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.

Mrs. Crawford died Friday, Sept. 7.

Her husband Marvin L. Crawford preceded Mrs. Crawford in death on Sept. 5. There was a joint service for Mr. and Mrs. Crawford.

Mrs. Crawford was born Aug. 10, 1913, in Gransonia, Ark., to the late George Wiley and Gracie Mae Linsenby Calhoun.

She was a resident of Henderson County 60 years, charter member and past president of Athens Pilot Club and a member of LaRue United Methodist Church.

Having resided in Malakoff a number of years, she and her husband co-owned Crawford Motor Company and the Rodeo Café and Service Station.

A daughter, Rita Cason; brother, Ralph Calhoun, Kenneth Calhoun and great-granddaughter, Kristi Crawford, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Marvin Ray “Buddy” Crawford, Athens; brothers, Bill Calhoun, Lufkin, George W. Calhoun Jr., San Antonio, James Calhoun, Union, Mo., Bob Calhoun, Mission; sister, Helen Pool, Daingerfield; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.

Frank Zellers

LARUE — Funeral services for Frank Zellers, 58, of LaRue, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Vernon Burrow officiating.

Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens.

Mr. Zellers died Thursday, Sept. 6, in an Athens hospital.

He was born Aug. 23, 1943 in Beaumont to Franklin Lee II and Marthella Burris Zellers.

Mr. Zellers graduated in 1961 from French High School, Beaumont.

He lived in Dublin prior to moving to LaRue seven years ago. Mr. Zellers owned Henderson County Livestock Auction and was a realtor in Athens and Stephenville. He was a member of Cattlemen’s Association and Beef Committee.

Mr. Zellers was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Gayle Linn Zellers, LaRue; sons, Frank Troy Zellers, Chugiak, Alaska, and Scott Nettles, Denton; mother, Marthella Zellers, Beaumont; sisters, Barbara Smith and Kay Meyers, both of Sour Lake; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rusty York, Gary Allmon, Bob Bolin, Herald LaFleur, O.O. Gilbreath and Jim McCutheon.

‘Bill’ Jackson

NECHES — Graveside services for William T. “Bill” Jackson, 74, of Neches were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Broyles Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Grasty officiating, under direction of Herrington/Land of Memory, Palestine.

Military honors were provided by an honor guard from Fort Hood.

Mr. Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 8, in a Crockett nursing home.

He was born Dec. 17, 1926, in Humnoke, Ark., to the late Ray and Rose Jackson.

Mr. Jackson grew up in Arkansas and Oklahoma and lived in Fort Worth before moving to Neches 15 years ago. He retired from the Army and then worked at Green Bay Packing in Fort Worth for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Jackson, Neches; son, Jack Jackson, Elkhart; stepsons, James Milam, Will Newman and Bobby Mabry, all of Fort Worth; daughter, Holly Nealy, Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Jackie Weatherly, Neches; brothers, Doyne Jackson and Wayne Jackson, both of Lawton, Okla., and Willard Jackson, Texas; sister, Dorothy Deats, Aransas Pass; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were members of military honor guard.

Ruby Smith

Private funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Smith, 63, of Frankston were held Monday, Sept. 10, at 4:30 p.m. at Frankston City Cemetery under direction of Advantage Mortuary Services of Tyler.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Sept. 5.

She was born Jan. 23, 1938 in Lindale. She lived in Fort Worth before moving to Frankston in 1993.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Smith of Frankston; one daughter, Juanita Smith of Frankston; four brothers, Joe Frank May and Jerry May, both of Fort Worth, Bill May of Alvarado and James May of Lubbock; one sister, Peggy of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren.

Natasha Nicole Pickard

Funeral services for Natasha Nicole Pickard, 18, of Brushy Creek, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Southside Baptist Church in Palestine with Drs. Steve Holcombe, Barry Roberts and the Rev. George Folmar officiating.

Burial followed at Pickard-Redd Cemetery in Brushy Creek under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Miss Pickard died Sunday, Sept. 9, in Carbon Hill, Alabama.

She was born Jan. 28, 1983 in Dallas.

Miss Pickard lived in Anderson County all of her life.

She attended Frankston High School where she played volleyball, softball and was a member of the flag corp. She was a Christian.

Miss Pickard was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jack Pickard Sr.

Survivors include her mother, Paula Pickard of Brushy Creek; grandmother, Margaret Pickard of Brushy Creek; and brothers, Austin Pickard, Heath Pickard and Chance Pickard, all of Brushy Creek.

Pallbearers were Jason Huckaby, Michael Parker, Michael Crawford, Gregg James, Jeffrey Redd and Tim Hart.

Honorary pallbearers were Todd Redd; Austin, Heath and Chance Pickard; Leslie Smith; Nanette Evans, Steven Smith, Alan Johnson; Kara Welch; Amber Presley; Class of 2001; Michael Martin; Michael Ballard; Josh Tarrant; Tim Brightwell; John Henry Smith and Drew Evans.

Emily Elizabeth Pickard

Funeral services for Emily Elizabeth Pickard, 2, of Brushy Creek, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Southside Baptist Church in Palestine with Drs. Steve Holcomb, Barry Roberts and the Rev. George Folmar officiating.

Burial followed at Pickard-Redd Cemetery in Brushy Creek under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Emily died Sunday, Sept. 9, in Birmingham, Alabama.

She was born Dec. 2, 1998, in Dallas to David and Elizabeth Hurley Pickard.

She had lived in Anderson County all her life and was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Palestine.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Cindy Brown of Palestine; and grandfather, Jack Pickard Sr.

Survivors include her parents, David and Elizabeth Pickard of Brushy Creek; grandparents. Don Hurley of Oklahoma and Margaret Pickard of Brushy Creek.

Pallbearers were Chris Redding, Buddy Sharp, Gregg Jenkins and Dewayne Gardner.

Honorary pallbearers were Chad Smith and Shannon Clakley.

Wilburn Green (Rudy) Cook

Graveside services for Wilburn Green (Rudy) Cook, 77, of Teague were held Thursday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Frankston City Cemetery.

Mr. Cook died Tues., Sept. 17, in a Temple hospital.

He was born Sept. 29, 1923 in Frankston.

Mr. Cook served overseas during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a construction worker and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Hurt Cook; a son, James Cook; and a daughter, Pamala Cook Sims.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Cheri Cook of Teague; a daughter and son-in-law, Kela and James LeFevre, of Robinson; a son-in-law, Raymond Sims of Athens; a sister, Grace “Sis” Newman of Katy; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
