Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Lella Tipton

Lella Tipton was born Sept 16, 1926 to Claire and Lillah Rogers McKee; in the house next door to where she and George made their home.

She passed away Oct 21, 2019 in her home with her children by her side.

Lella Mae started working at First State Bank in Frankston in 1944 as a teller, retiring on Aug 6, 1992 from a career of 48 years, during which she was also Senior Loan Officer and Vice President.

She met George Tipton early in her career. They married Nov 25, 1948 (Thanksgiving Day).

After her retirement, they traveled to many foreign countries including Russia, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, England, Israel, Ireland, and Scotland.

Lella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years George Tipton, Jr. Her brothers William E., and James Patrick McKee.

She is survived by her daughter Mickye Strother and husband Wayne of Manvel, TX and her son Randy Tipton and wife Virginia of Waxahachie, TX; sisters, Claire Compton and Nell Binion, both of Weatherford, TX; grandchildren Christie Bergerson and husband Josh of Elkins Park, Penn. Scott Tipton and wife Amy of Malaga, Spain, and Jared Strother and wife Elizabeth of Pearland, TX and numerous  great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston. Funeral Service began at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019.

Alice “Jean” Wicker

On October 24, 2019, Alice “Jean” Wicker passed away in Jacksonville, Texas. She was 86 years old.

Jean was born on January 14, 1933 to the late Evelyn and Bill Wallis in Dallas. She grew up there, graduating from North Dallas High School. Jean and Dan were married on May 27, 1950 in Dallas where they made their home, raised their girls, joined Casa View Methodist Church, and became active in local politics. Jean ran several political campaigns and knew how to do it.

They moved to Poynor in or around 1983 and Jean quickly became involved with The United Methodist Church of Frankston. She served as president of United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school, was a driving force for the church food pantry, and was on the administrative council. Additionally, for many years Jean was a volunteer with CASA, touching many lives with her care.

Anyone who knew Jean well, will remember her smile, her boisterous laugh, her love of travel, but especially the love she felt for her family, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Jean is survived by her husband and love of her life, Dan Wicker; her daughter, Anice Greiner, and husband, John , of Dallas; her daughter, Beth Wells, and husband, Bob Macfadzean, of Norman , OK, and her daughter, Molly Turner, and husband, Reed, of Balch Springs. She is also survived by grandchildren Daniel Wells and wife, Annette, Emily Chenevert and husband, Hunter, Mosley Leporidae and wife, Rebecca, Jeremy Mosley and wife, Kim, Jacqueline Greiner and significant other, Ty Levy, and great-grandchildren Jada and Alexa Mosley, Jae Levy, Hudson and Barrett Chenevert and Sadie and Sam Wells.

She will be greatly missed!

Vivian Asher

A memorial service for Vivian Asher, 93, of Berryville, was scheduled at 11 o’clock in the morning Friday, Nov. 8, 2019 at The United Methodist Church of Frankston with Rev. Matt Thomas officiating. A graveside service was held at 3 o’clock that afternoon at Garden Oaks Memorial Park in Berryville. Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Asher passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 in Jacksonville.

Vivian was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Joplin, MO to Joseph and Vivian (Woody) Mikesell. She was a member of The United Methodist Church of Frankston, United Methodist Women, Fellowship Sunday School Class, and Red Hat Scarlet Ladies. Ms. Asher enjoyed quilting and gardening and was a dedicated Democrat.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard Dabney Asher, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Richard Asher, Jr., and daughter, Cynthia Gilmer and husband Lee, all of Berryville; sisters, Willa Reneau and husband John and Helen Kirkpatrick and husband Ray, all of Chandler; brother Jack Mikesell and wife Wynell of Duncanville; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous niece and nephews.
