Frankston Area Obituaries — 1999-Present

Here are the obituaries posted for the current month from information provided courtesy of local and area funeral homes and published on their websites or those submitted by families. Obituaries selected or submitted should follow a format which is essentially consistent with other obituaries posted here or by funeral homes and follow standard grammatical style. Through arrangements with funeral homes and/or the families, we will publish pictures with current obituaries. We will add pictures to archived obituaries from the print version of The Citizen newspaper prior to September 2019 when available. Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

T. J. Weesner

T. J. Weesner, 89, of Dallas, passed away at his home on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012.

He was born in rural Henderson County near Frankston on January 2, 1923. His parents were George Douglas Weesner and  Pearl Campbell Weesner Burks.  

He was preceded in death by his wife Faye Tennison Weesner in 1988.  

Weesner worked for Republic National Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the Elks Club and Northlake Baptist Church.  

He was in the Army Air Corps during WWII.  

Survivors include his daughter Judy W. Archilla and her husband Elliot; son Mark D. Weesner and his wife Sherry; 4 grandchildren Evan Archilla and Erik Archilla, Amanda Bischoff and Michal Weesner;  4 great grandchildren;  sister Elizabeth Sinks;  brother Larry Weesner;  and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were under direction of Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Road, Dallas.

A graveside funeral service was held Tuesday, October 30, at McDonald Cemetery in New Summerfield.

The family is requesting donations to VITAS Hospice or the Salvation Army.

Kim Montoya

Funeral services for Kim Montoya, 50, of Chandler, were held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Frankston with Pastor Paul Zock officiating.

Burial was held at New Hope Cemetery near Brownsboro.

Mrs. Montoya passed away Nov. 6, 2012, in Tyler.

She was born Jan. 13, 1962, in Houston.

Mrs. Montoya was a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church in Palestine.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ronnie Montoya, father Robert “Bob” Underwood and step-father Ronald “Ronnie” Henderson.

Survivors include her mother Anneita Piediscalzi of Chandler; sisters Cindy Underwood of Chandler and Rhonda Hardin and husband Rodney of Frankston; brother Mike Henderson and wife Patti of Frankston; six nieces and nephews; and three great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Rodney Hardin, Mike Henderson, Lynn Jackson, Randy Jackson, Kenneth Ware, and Jerry Ware.

Knox R. Mitchell

Funeral services for Knox R. Mitchell, 92, of Frankston, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Frankston.

Burial will be held at Old Bethel Cemetery, Frankston.

Mr. Mitchell passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, in Tyler.

He was born February 27, 1920, in Anderson County.

Mr. Mitchell was a rancher, served in the United States Army during World War II, and was a member of the Church of Christ in Frankston.

He is preceded in death by his wife Naomi Mitchell, son Roger Mitchell, brothers Dennis Mitchell and Fred Mitchell, and sister Sally Mitchell.

Survivors include his daughter Barbara Lang and husband Earl of Frankston; sister Velma L. Smith of Katy; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.

Tommy Robison

Tommy Robison, 70, of Poynor died November 16, 2012, at the Park Highland Rehabilitation Center in Athens.

Mr. Robison was born in Frankston on July 10, 1942. His parents were Mildred “Sis” Robison Kitchens and Claude “Bud” Robison.

A memorial will  be held at a later date, and Mr. Robison will be laid to rest at the Poynor Cemetery next to his parents.

Mr. Robison was an educator, principal and teacher at Mendota High School in Mendota, California, for a decade in the 1970s prior to returning to his beloved Texas. There he re-married and began a career as a foreman for an off-shore oil company.

He retired in 1998 because of injury and remained in Poynor until he was transferred to Park Highland Nursing and Rehab in November of 2010.

Survivors include his children Kent and Mark Robison and John Rogers and his daughter Robin Robison; his sister, Janie Pierce Robison and her husband Carl Pierce; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
