Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Beulah Vaughan

Services for Beulah Vaughan, 88, of Frankston will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pisgah Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Holcomb, Bro. Jonathan Jones and Bro. Mike Drinkard officiating.

Burial will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mrs. Vaughan died Sunday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, Tyler. She was born December 29, 1920 in Blooming Grove, to Holmes Wilkes and Winnie Viebelle Flynt Fagala.

Mrs. Vaughan was a homemaker. She was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church and an active member of the Frankston Garden Club.

Mrs. Vaughan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Russell Vaughan in 1964; a daughter, Mary Catherine Vaughan; sons, Lemuel Vaughan, Larry Lee Vaughan, and James Aubrey Vaughan; granddaughter, Janet Kay Harris; sisters, Myrtle Groom, Blanche Jarrett, and Virginia Bowen; and a brother, Griffin Fagala.

She is survived by her daughters, Winnie Evelyn Harris and husband Ray of Frankston; Linda Holcomb and husband Ronnie of Bradford; Nita Shaw and husband Leslie of Dallas; son, Jerry Vaughan and wife Linda of Bradford; 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Cary Shaw, Terry Vaughan, Steven Shaw, Bobby Harris, Thomas Harris, Rusty Holcomb, Michael Vaughan, Bryan Vaughan and James Groom.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe and Sonya White, Debbie and Craig Scott, Amanda and Barry Roberts, Jr., Christy Baldwin, Paula and Paul Hintz, and Tammy and Dewayne Conrad.

Condolence calls were to be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Palestine.

Memorials may be made to the Brushy Creek Cemetery Association.

Hazel Bourland

Funeral services for Hazel Ruth Bourland, 86, of Frankston, were held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Frankston with the Rev. Darin Wood and the Rev. J. A. Griffin officiating.

Burial followed at Frankston City Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Bourland passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 in Tyler.

She was born Sept. 5, 1923 in Frankston to Jesse C. Vermillion and Minnie Bizzell Vermillion.

Mrs. Bourland was a member of First Baptist Church of Frankston and a retired retail sales clerk.

She is preceded in death by her husband Walter E. Bourland and parents Jesse C. and Minnie Vermillion.

Survivors include her son, Barry Bourland and wife Von of Happy, Texas; daughter, Barbara Rice and husband Daniel of Frankston; brothers, Jessie Curtis “Sonny” Vermillion of Clute, Bill Vermillion of Tyler and Bobby King Vermillion of Tyler; sisters, June McClintock of Richardson and Rosemary Carrington of Frankston; one granddaughter, Seleta Ruth Merrick; and two great-granddaughters, Kira Merrick and Jordynn Merrick.

Pallbearers were Johnny Burks, Ronny Smith, Elmer Gene Birdwell, Ryan Bizzell, Jim Smith and Curtis Vermillion.

The family requests that memorials go to the Frankston City Cemetery or First Baptist Church in Frankston.


Vivian Bragg

Funeral services for Vivian Miller Bragg, 39, of New Summerfield, were held Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at New Emmaus Baptist Church in New Summerfield with the Rev. Michael Manis officiating.

Burial followed at New Emmaus Cemetery, New Summerfield.

She was born Sept. 1, 1970, in Jacksonville to Billy Van Miller and Shirley Yvonne Butler Miller.

Mrs. Bragg passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Bragg was an RN at ETMC, Jacksonville for 2 years and Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler for several years.

She is preceded in death by her parents Billy Van and Shirley Miller.

Survivors include husband, Scott Bragg of New Summerfield; sons, Damean Carpenter, Michael Carpenter and Gage Bragg, all of New Summerfield; daughter, Evee Nacole Bragg of New Summerfield; sister, Polly Nolan of Troup; brothers Billy Miller of Florida and Russell Miller of New Summerfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Chad Foster, Sam Jackson, Brent Maris, Rich Edwards, John Fabion and Gary McCutchon.


Roy Howell

Roy Rogers Howell passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Medical Center of Arlington.

Roy was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Frankston, to Hill and Ruby Howell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister JoAnne Lewis of Frankston.

He is survived by his daughters, Marcy Gall and her husband Mark of Lake Dallas, Kari Howell of Tyler, and Jenny Robinson and her husband Robert of Frisco; brothers, H.O. Howell Jr. of Palestine, Jimmy Howell and wife Delores of Frankston, Wilburn Howell and wife Mary Ann of Palestine, Grady Howell of Frankston, Floyd Howell and wife Diana of Arlington, and sister Sharon Rhodes and husband Charles of Frankston.

He will also be missed by several grandsons and granddaughters as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.


Lymon Moreland

Services for Lymon R. Morelan, 93, of Frankston were held Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Frankston with MSGR. Zack Kunnakkattuthata officiating. Services were under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Mr. Morelan died on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 in Tyler.

He was born on Dec. 6, 1915 in Jasper, Arkansas to the late James Ottis and Mary Ann Forester Morelan. He was retired from Phillips Petroleum and was in the ArmyCorp of Engineers in World War II. He was a member of St

Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Frankston.

He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Morelan in 1991, and his parents.

He is survived by son Rick Morelan of Frankston and one granddaughter Mercedes Danielle Morelan of Seagoville.


Jerry Howell

Funeral services for Jerry C. Howell, 65, of Huntington were held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Jerry Young officiating.

Graveside services followed in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Frankston.

Mr. Howell was born August 17, 1944 in Frankston, to the late Johnnie Lavada (Ruff) and James Corbett Howell, and died Thursday, November 19, 2009 in a local hospital.

Formerly of Frankston and Tampa, Florida, Mr. Howell had resided in Huntington for four years, where he owned and operated Jerry’s Tire Shop.

While in Florida he owned American Drilling, and was past president of the Florida Water Well Drillers Association. Mr. Howell enjoyed being with his family and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Howell of Huntington; daughters and son-in-law, Teri Goodwin of Frankston, Linda Kay Bargeron of Denison and Karen and Sean Benton of Neches; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Allan and Karen Howell of Frankston; stepdaughters, Laurie Green and Amanda Green, both of Huntington; grandchildren, Jon, Josh, Justin, Edward and Brandy; great-grandson, Kaleb; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Lucreda Howell of Hallsville, David and Martha Howell and James Fred and Betty Howell, all of Frankston; sister, Lynda Hanna of Whitehouse; mother-in-law, Ruth Howell of Lufkin; brothers-in-law, Thomas Howell and wife Ramona of Zavalla, John Howell and wife Janet of Lufkin and Joseph Howell and wife Bernadette of Denver, Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Scott Cordray, Rodney Cordray, Tom Howell, Rich Geist, David Wayne Howell, Jr. and Larry Collier.

Dot Bryant

Dot Bryant, 82, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Lakeshore Assisted Living Center in Seattle, Washington.

Bryant, who was a member of the United Methodist Church in Frankston for many years, had lived in Seattle for about five years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Bryant.

She is survived by three children.
