Jason Andrew Perry

Funeral services for Jason Andrew Perry, 32, of Frankston were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with Raymond Graham and Bro. John Kennon officiating.

Mr. Perry died on Feb. 18 at Brushy Creek.

He was born March 27, 1974, in Dallas, but Frankston was always the Perry family home. Mr. Perry's great-grandfather and mother walked to Frankston from Missouri with a team of oxen. His grandparents were Buster and Ophelia and his parents were James and Joan Perry. James worked in the septic business and was employed in Dallas when Jason Perry was born, but the family returned to Frankston when Mr. Perry was a baby, the youngest of three children.

Mr. Perry was a 1992 graduate of Frankston High School where he was fullback on his successful football team. His sisters said college scouts were looking at Mr. Perry, but the senior hurt his knee in his final football game and lost any chance of playing college ball.

After high school, Mr. Perry worked at Berry's Country Store in Berryville and then began working at package stores. At the time of his death, he was assistant manager of a package store in Cuney, the sisters said.

Survivors include two daughters, Haley Danielle Perry of Frankston and Amber Nicole "Nickie" Adams of Frankston; his parents, James and Joan Perry of Frankston; two sisters, Tammy Lynn Butler of Frankston and Teressa Ann Perry of Frankston; cousin, George Ray Fuller of Oklahoma and several other cousins; several aunts; nieces, Samantha Roberts of Frankston, Jessica Nash of Odessa; and nephews, Joshua Butler of Quinlan and Emmett Butler of Quinlan.

Vera Cawthorn Roper

Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Cawthorn Roper, 92, of Bullard were at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Whitehouse, with Pastors Bennie Portwood, Brad Williams and Bruce Larson officiating. Burial was at Bullard Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Roper died Saturday, Feb. 24 in Troup.

She was born Sept. 20, 1914 in Bullard. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Whitehouse

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie R. Roper, her son, Fred Roper, and her grandson, Stephen Roper.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny Rodney Roper and wife Glenda of Tyler, Jimmy Roper and wife Eilene of Lewisville; daughter Frances Taylor and husband Albert of Henderson; daughter-in-law Barbara Roper of Kilgore; sister-in-law Mary Cantrell of Tyler; step sister-in-law Evelyn Price of Montalba; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Johnny Taylor, Thomas Taylor, Paul Duncan, Steve Tucker, Steve Hall and Jason Roper.

Honorary pallbearers were Todd Roper and Steve Christopher.

George Alphus ‘Pete’ Hopper

Mr. Pete Hopper, 94, passed away Sunday, March 4, at his Ellis County residence.

He was born on February 28, 1913, in Palestine to Andrew Decal and Martha (Walding) Hopper. Mr. Hopper was a farmer.

He is survived by: daughters, Martha Davis of Midland, Cleta Shelton of Trinidad, Georgia McHelvey of Athens, and Carolyn Whiteley of Red Oak; sister, Ella Norton of Sherman; thirteen grand children, thirty three great grandchildren, and twenty one great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cleta Hopper and son, Karl Hopper.

The family received friends and relatives Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the Red Oak Funeral Home.

The Celebration of his Life was at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, at the Red Oak Chapel with Reverend James Jackson officiating. Graveside and interment was at 3 p.m. at Dabbs Cemetery, Frankston.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.

Rastus L. Reagan

Services for Rastus L. Reagan, 92, of Jacksonville, were held on Saturday, March 3, Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. Don Harvey officiating.

Mr. Reagan was buried in Jarratt Cemetery.

He died on February 28, in Jacksonville.

Mr. Reagan was born April 21, 1914 in Cushing.

He was a member of the Cove Springs Community Church and a member of the Berryville Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Jack Reagan; son, Tracy Lee Reagan and daughter, Bonnie Joy Reagan.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Orlanda Reagan of Jacksonville and Roger L. Reagan of Dailville; daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and James Taylor of Crockett, Doris Rogers of Sherman and Judy and Joe Burton of Jacksonville; brother, A. A. Reagan of Spring; sisters, Winnie Cooper of Spring and Carrie Wheeler of Porter; ten grand children; several great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Mr. Reagan’s grandsons and great grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers included members of the Berryville Volunteer Fire Department.

A. B. Roberts

A memorial service with military honors for A. B. Roberts, 82, of Kemp, formerly of Murchison was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the chapel of Cooper Funeral Home . Nick Scholars officiated.

Mr. Roberts passed away Sunday evening in Gun Barrel City.

Mr. Roberts was born December 15, 1924 in Poynor, to his parents John O. and Eunice Green Roberts. He graduated from Poynor High School and attended Henderson County Junior College. He served in the United States Merchant Marines and the United States Navy during World War II. Places of service included Aleutian Islands. Midway, Saipan, Tianna and Pillule.

Mr. Roberts was a dragline operator, local entrepreneur and businessman and cattle rancher. His hobbies included participating in horse shows, cooking and sharing fresh vegetables from his garden and visiting with friends and sharing lifetime memories.

Survivors include his daughters, Ann Lewis Boyles and husband Elliot, Cindy Richardson and husband Tommy; grandchildren, Adam Roberts Lewis, Amanda Lewis Bethea and husband Trey, Brandy McKeever and Brant Babineaux; the mother of his children Loree Roberts; a very special friend, Cindy Hale; sisters, Pat Ashworth, Louise Shelton, Clarice Fincher, Sue Robison, Jonnie Burnett and several nieces and nephews.

Honarary pallbearers include Norman Slaton, Keneth Slayton, Jamey Jackson, Larry Everett, James Hardin and Carl Richardson.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.

Everett L. ‘Bo’ Robinson

Funeral services for Everett L. “Bo” Robinson, 71, of Jacksonville were held Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Rev. F.F. Kennedy and Rev. Mitchell McRight officiated. Mr. Robinson was buried at Providence Cemetery.

Mr. Robinson passed on Thursday, March 1 at Legacy Hospice of Tyler after an extended illness.

He was born on July 24, 1935 in Jacksonville and lived there his entire life except for the seven and a half years he spent serving in the United States Air Force. He drove a transport truck for several years and eventually went to work and retired with T.D.C.J. He was a member of the Abundant Life Tabernacle in Jacksonville.

Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his mother Catherine; father Everett “Buddy,” daughter Kathy and granddaughter Angelica.

He was survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara “Loretta” Robinson of Jacksonville; daughter, Tonya Helmig and husband Wayne of Payne Springs; son Jimmy Robinson of Jacksonville; mother-in-law, Vera White of Jacksonville; brothers-in law, Larry White and Elvis white and wives of Jacksonville; special friend John and Gracie Woods of Maydelle; sister, Mary Ann Forrester; brother, Scooter Forrester of Jacksonville; step mother, Evelyn Leonard of Alto; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Billy Hershiser, Mark Smith, Danny Crouch, Jim Carlile, Philip Watson and Brad Crawford.

Betty L. Galloway

Funeral services for Betty L. Galloway, 91, of Frankston were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. Doug Howell officiating. Burial was in Fincastle Cemetery.

Mrs. Galloway died Sunday, March 18, 2007, inTyler.

She was born Sept. 30, 1915, in the Sand Flat Community of Anderson County. She was a retired

bank teller and a member of the United Methodist Church of Frankston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Powell Tyson Galloway; her parents, Jerry Allen and Maggie Virginia (Walker) McMillan; two brothers; three sisters; a son-in-law; and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Kenneth N. Locke of Frankston, and Nell Reynolds of Panama City, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Isabell McMillan of Oakwood, Tx.; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and a large extended family.

Pallbearers were Jarrett Locke, Justen Locke, Paul Duesterkoft, Andrew Wallace, Bryan Buford and Christopher Davis.

Alex Hamilton Jr.

Alex Hamilton Jr., 56, of Frankston died Monday, March 26, 2007, in his sleep at his home, 10955 Burks St.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, at Mt. Olive Sand Flats Church on Hwy. 175. Viewing was on Thursday, March 29, at Mercy McGowen Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Mr. Hamilton was born on Aug. 8, 1950, in Alto, the son of the late Elic and Mattie Hamilton. He was a long-time employee of East Texas Trash Company.

Survivors include a wife, Ernestine Scott Hamilton of Frankston; former wife, Vera Hamilton of Jacksonville; a son, Derrick Hamilton of Lufkin; one daughter, Detria Hamilton of Dallas, one step-son, Rodney Scott of Poynor; one step-daughter, Lashonna Adams of Tyler; five sisters, Callie Lacy, Judith Brager, Doris Brock, Clara Taylor, Lucille McCullough, all of Jacksonville;

12 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.
