Alexander “Al” Gallo

Alexander “Al” Gallo passed away June 4, 2022 in Athens. He was born Nov. 8, 1924 to Rafaell and Sarafina Gallo, in Newell, Pennsylvania.

He joined the United States Air Force at 17 years old in 1942 and flew over 30 missions over the next three years becoming a captain and receiving the Distinguished Air medal.

After his tour ended, he was stationed at the Dalhart Air Base to begin training with the B-29 Bomber. Plans began to change when he met Rena Brewster, who at the time, was in charge of issuing ration cards. Their love soon joined them in marriage on Dec. 27, 1947.

He received his honorable discharge and began a new adventure in the cattle industry along with farming. It was in 1970 that he and 13 other stockholders began the nations most unconventional feed mill in Dalhart. He remained in the agricultural business for the next 25 years.

Micah 6:8 sums up the man of God that Al became: A man who knew what God required of him and to act justly and to live mercy and walk humbly with God.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rena; his parents; and his siblings, Peter, John, Dominick, Ralph, Anthony, Joseph, Caroline, Carmella, Anna Mae, and Catherine.

Al is survived by a daughter Sharolyn Henson and husband Tom; his son Richard Gallo and wife Nataly; three grandsons, Brent, Ross, and Grant Gallo and wife Crystal. There are two precious great grandchildren Emory Gallo and Alexander Gallo.

His love and tenderness will always be missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of Al’s life will be held at the Poynor Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. He will be laid to rest by his wife at Rosehill Cemetery in Tyler.

Family visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Pallbearers will be Brent Gallo, Ross Gallo, Grant Gallo, Doug Field, Dan Field, David Field, Jerry Douglas, Keith Bristow, Ryan Bristow, Bob Eubanks and Robert Magee.

Guy Harvey Turner

A graveside service for Guy Harvey Turner, 57, of Frankston is scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Frankston City Cemetery with Bro. Keith Kniffen officiating.

Harvey was born July 1, 1964 and entered into eternal life on Friday, June 10, 2022. He enjoyed creating things with Legos, drawing and coloring as well as watching cartoons.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Clara Melinda Flannery; grandfather, James Harvey Flannery; grandmother, Billie Mae Easley Turner; grandfather, Guy Idis Turner; uncle, Guy Leonard Turner; aunt, Bennie Ruth Turner; aunt, Clara Marie West and a cousin, Caleb Turner.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Jean Turner of Frankston; father Robert Dale Turner Sr. and wife Debra of Troup; brother Robert “Bobby” Turner Jr. of Whitehouse; sister, Kathy Guthrie of Tyler; sister, Tracy Musselman and husband Shane of LaRue; brother, Shawn Turner and wife Michele of Bullard; aunt Melinda Arrant and husband James of Tyler, aunt Johanna Denson and husband Richard of Tyler and aunt Paulette Flannery of Tyler. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert “Bobby” Turner, Shawn Turner, Robert Turner III, Colton Turner, Shane Musselman and Blaine Musselman.

W.T. “Tommy” Johns

W.T. “Tommy” Johns was born March 22, 1947, in Jacksonville to Lang and Ruth (Dyess) Johns and entered eternal life on June 12, 2022.

His greatest joy in life were his precious grandchildren. Tommy was very involved and active in his community as well as the previous owner of Dairy Queen in Frankston. He was a hard worker who went on to retire from TDC after 23 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, Archie Kennard and Bobby Worthy.

Left to cherish Tommy’s memory are his loving wife of 25 years, Janeene Johns; his daughter, Amy and husband Michael Slack of Austin; stepdaughter, Tonya and husband Chuck Watson of Bullard; and sisters-in-law, Faye Kennard and Mertie Telford. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Sydney, Madison, and Landon Slack, Timothy Watson, and Heather and Marcus Sanchez; two great-grandchildren, Roman and Cruz Sanchez; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.

Jackie Forester

Funeral services for Jackie Forester 79, of LaRue have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday June 20, 2022 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Jason Taylor and Bro. Jeff Godwin officiating. Burial will follow at New York Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jackie Forester went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 18, 2022 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler with her family by her side.

Jackie was born March 3, 1943 in Frankston to the late Lee Andrew McLane and Ruby Quinton Dickerson McLane. Jackie grew up in Frankston and was a 1961 graduate of Frankston High School. She also attended Henderson County Junior College where she studied business administration.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Darrell “PeeWee” Forester of the New York Community, and their youngest son, Jason Brent Forester. Jackie was also preceded in death by her parents Lee and Ruby McLane; two sisters Jennia V. McHale and JoAnn Baxter, and four brothers Robert Lee McLane, Billy Lewis McLane, Jimmie Ray McLane and Wylie Morris McLane.

Jackie Forester is survived by her two oldest sons, Robert Brad Forester and wife Kathy Childress Forester and Bryan Keith Forester and wife Julie Bragg Forester. Additionally, Jackie is survived by her six grandchildren Jessica Forester and Joseph Kirkpatrick, Heather Forester and husband Hyodeok, Kyle Forester and wife Sarah, Paige Morrison and husband Kaleb, Brooke Fortner and husband Dalton, and Tiffany Forester and Justin Bergstrom.

Jackie is also survived by her great grandchildren Madison Mann, Brylee and Kolbi Grace Fortner, Emily and Harrison Forester, Lillian Rae Bergstrom, and baby Morrison due July 2022.

Lastly, Jackie is survived by her four sisters Martha Jane Hicks, Wanda Dorris Houston, Mary Louise Phillips, and Margaret June Brown; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Jackie Forester came from a very large family and was able to have a very large family of her own. In this, she took great pride.

Pallbearers are Kyle Forester, Joseph Kirkpatrick, Kaleb Morrison, Dalton Fortner, Justin Bergstrom and John Henry Reynolds.

Honorary Pallbearers are Breck Dodd, Jose “Gizzy” Estrada and Minerva “Minnie” Corona.

Rest in peace our beloved Jackie.

Barbara Ellen (Hampton) Galbreath

Barbara Ellen (Hampton) Galbreath, 75, of Frankston passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, June 17, 2022, after a long illness from COPD at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Palestine.

Her funeral will be at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 2 p.m. with visitation of the family an hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Frankston City Cemetery.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1947, in Shreveport, La. to Wade E. Hampton and Gracie (Locke) Hampton. She graduated in 1965 from Campbell HS in Honolulu, HI. She worked for Zale’s where she met and then married David Ray Galbreath on Sept. 5, 1971. She was raised Southern Baptist.

Barbara graduated Phi Theta Kappa with a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Texas, Tyler. She worked 20 years as the local family historian for the Tyler Public Library, a profession she loved well.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and her husband.

She is survived by her son Derek Galbreath; daughters Ellen Durham and husband John and Tracy Young and husband Josh; sisters, Marge Smith and Theresa Mullins, and brother Brian Hampton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers are Chance Dempsey, Andrew Smith, Michael Mullins, Alan Hampton, and Merrick Young. Honorary Pallbearers are Jacob Dempsey, Brian Hampton, Danielle Durham, and Jason Hosch.

Donations can be made in her honor to the National Genealogy Society or charity of choice.

Robert A. McLain

Funeral service for Robert A. McLain will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert was born Dec. 15, 1931 to his parents Gordon and Ione Bell McLain. He was born, raised, and went to school in Malakoff where he graduated from high school in 1949. Robert joined the National Guard in 1949 at 17 years old where he served for 14 years.

He spent most of his life living in Athens, where he participated for many years in several civic organizations, some of which where the Athens Little Theater and Kiwanis. He loved to hunt, fish, square dance, and travel in his motorhome.

Robert and Betty started their own construction company, Custom Home Builders, in 1965 and worked in that business for over 36 years. He spent the last 14 years residing in Frankston where he enjoyed attending Lighthouse Baptist Chapel.

Robert was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His favorite past time was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Ione Bell McLain and wife of 65 years, Betty Jean McLain.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Goodman and husband Mike of Frankston; son, Paige McLain and wife Susan of Athens; grandson, Jordan Goodman of Tyler; granddaughter, Taylor Jenkins and husband Richard of LaRue; granddaughter, Brooke Ingram and husband Paul of LaRue; great grandchildren, Harper Jo Jenkins and Hayes McLain Jenkins; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Wanda Livingston.
