Lukie Tomlin

LARUE —  Services for Lukie Onice Tomlin, 86, LaRue, were held Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. at the LaRue Methodist Church with the Rev. Matt Thomas officiating.

Burial followed in the LaRue Cemetery under the direction of Foster and Brown Funeral Home, Athens.

Mr. Tomlin died Dec. 30.

He was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Center to the late Erwin and Mary Parker Tomlin. He served in the Navy during World War II and retired from Texaco, Inc. He served in the early 1980s as an aide for Senator Carl Parker of Port Arthur, where he worked for Senior Citizens’ rights. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Nederland, Nederland Masonic Lodge 1368, where he was past master and was a charter member of Nederland Order of Eastern Star 1079 and past worthy patron.

He was preceded in death by grandson, Roy Martin Tomlin.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Evon Beasley Tomlin, LaRue; son, Marlon Tomlin, LaRue; daughter, Patsy Fowler, LaRue; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Vickie Lynn Brown

Funeral services for Vickie Lynn Brown, 38, of Frankston were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston, with Rev. George Folmar officiating and eulogy by Marty Lawrence and Betty Roberts.

Burial was at Wofford Cemetery in Frankston.

Miss Brown died Thursday, Jan. 3, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born March 14, 1963 in Jacksonville.

Survivors include her parents, Jerry Mack and Wanda Tipton of New Summerfield; a brother, Hollis Dee Tipton of Frankston; sisters, Christine Fisher and Sandra Perry, both of Frankston; her grandmother, Louise Brown of Frankston; several nieces and nephews; an uncle, Edward Brown of Frankston; and numerous other aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers were Randy Jones, Steve Fisher, Eddie Hasty, Roger Perry, Roger Nolen, Billy Roberts, Tracy Nolen and E.A. Nolen.

Honorary pallbearers were Matthew Hasty, Bryan Fisher and Tony Donahue.

Betty Meador

LARUE — Funeral services for Betty A. Downing Meador, 60, LaRue, were held Thursday, Jan. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at New York Baptist Church with the Revs. Jack Mills and Grady Higgs officiating.

Burial was in New York Cemetery under direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home, Athens.

Mrs. Meador died Jan. 7 in Tyler.

She was born Oct. 21, 1941, in Belton to the late J.K. and Ruby Downing. She was deputy district clerk for Henderson County and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Downing and Jack Rubin Downing.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Meador, LaRue; son, Randy Meador, Jacksonville; daughters, Jana Bambico, Flint; Cindy Meador, Dallas and Vicki Walton, McKinney; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Thelma Jean Koch Hyde

Funeral services for Thelma Jean Koch Hyde, 66, of Frankston were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the First Baptist Church in Frankston with Rev Eddie Hilburn, Rev. Grover Talbert, Rev Louie Barron and Rev. Pat Cummins officiating.

Burial was at the Bosqueville City Cemetery, Bosqueville, near Waco at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan 17. Services were under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mrs. Hyde died Tuesday, Jan. 15 in Frankston.

She was born Aug. 30, 1935 in Gatesville to Vernon and Mary Louise Koch. She grew up and lived half of her life in Bosqueville and Waco.

Mrs. Hyde resided in Frankston from 1965 until her death. She retired from Hunt Oil Co. in Poynor, after 31 years of service.

Mrs. Hyde was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Frankston and served the Lord with her life and music. She touched many lives with her piano and organ music, playing for numerous weddings and other events in the community.

She was also an active member of the Frankston Garden Club, Hunt Retiree Club, Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class, and Waco Tech Class Reunion Committee.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Louise Koch.

Survivors include her spouse of 47 years, W.M. (Bill) Hyde of Frankston; her son, James V. Hyde, wife, Judy, and their children, Lynzee and Jarrod Hyde of Frankston; son, Jeff Hyde, wife, Jill, and their children, Clint and Caten Hyde of Broussard, Louisiana; daughter, Suzanne Beddingfield, husband, Ray, and their children, Brady and Mason Beddingfield of Frankston; her father, Vernon Koch of Waco; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Danny Rowell of Waco; a brother and sister-in-law, W.G. (Bill) and Pat Koch of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Ronny Stone of Hearne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Other special family members include, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dickerson, Mr. and Mrs Herbert Riley, and Mr. and Mrs. James Beddingfield.

Marvin Glenn

WHITEHOUSE — Funeral services for Marvin Glenn, 72, of Whitehouse were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville.

Burial was at the Frankston City Cemetery.

Mr. Glenn died Tuesday, Jan. 15, in Tyler.

He was born Dec. 25, 1929 in Frankston.

Mr. Glenn was a roofer and a Jehovah Witness. He gave of his time and money to several charitable organizations and helped with many fund raisers.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Glenn of Whitehouse; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Rogers of Denver, CO, James and Ashley Bonner and Joshua and Sara Bonner, all of Whitehouse; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Juan Oneros of Austin, Melinda and Dan Guseman of Jacksonville, Rebecca Currey, Bernadine and Tracy Banks, all of Hawkins, Melodee and Steve Horchler of Lindale; his mother, Mary West of Kirbyville; brothers, J.C. Glenn of Silsbee, Mack Glenn of Austin, Joe Glenn of Flint and Gerald Glenn of Silsbee; sisters, Ruth Johnson of Flint, and Frances Turner of Silsbee; 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sherman Inzo Jowell

Graveside serves for Sherman Inzo Jowell, 84, of Tyler were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in the E. L. Russell Cemetery in Lone Oak Community near Rusk with Gary Rich officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler.

Mr Jowell died Saturday, Jan. 12 in Tyler.

He was born Sept. 15, 1917 in Frankston and had lived in Tyler 53 years. He had also lived in Palestine and Frankston.

Mr. Jowell was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He was a retired paint contractor and a decorated veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Lou Pearl Jowell of Tyler; two sons, Darrell Jowell of Garland and Sherrell Jowell of Tyler; two sisters, Lucille Pope of Livingston and Noel Duncan of Longview; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Greg Russell, Terry Massey, Kelly Reeves, Robert (Bob) Williamson, Brandon Jowell, Roland Jowell, Russell Jowell and Margarito Barajas.

Reagan F. Otts

LARUE — Graveside services for Reagan F. Otts, 96, Bryan, formerly of LaRue, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at LaRue Cemetery with Steve Wheeler officiating under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.

Mr. Otts died Sunday, Jan. 13, in a Bryan hospital.

He was born March 19, 1905 in Henderson County to the late James Wesley and Luda Matilda Nettles Otts.

Mr. Otts graduated from LaRue High School and Lon Morris College in Jacksonville.

He retired from Proctor & Gamble in Dallas after 42 years service and moved to College Station in 1987.

Mr. Otts was a member of Wellborn Baptist Church, Wellborn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Leona Otts in 1995.

Survivors include six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Bonner, Dan Guseman, Joshua Bonner, Dalton Banks, Matthew Guseman and Steve Horchler.

Parilee Douglas

LARUE — Funeral services for Parilee Faine Douglas, 94, of LaRue, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Lone Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerard Mosley officiating.

Burial was in Friendship Cemetery, Chandler, under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.

Mrs. Douglas died Tuesday, Jan. 8, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born Nov. 25, 1907, in Anderson County and attended school in Anderson and Kaufman counties.

Mrs. Douglas was a lifelong resident of the area, a homemaker, a Baptist and member of Liffie Fair Chapter No. 132, Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.D. Douglas.

Survivors include a sister, Ms. Lang, Frankston; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers are deacons of the church.

Honorary pallbearers were nephews.

Burnice Street

LARUE — Funeral services for Burnice Lee Street, 66, of LaRue, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Bethel AME Church, LaRue, with the Rev T.J. Miles officiating.

Burial was in Bethel Cemetery under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.

Mr. Street died Monday, Jan. 7, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born March 3, 1935, in LaRue and was a lifelong resident of Henderson County.

Mr. Street attended Central High School in LaRue, was a retired farmer and owner of Turn Fork Package Store.

He was a member of Bethel AME Church, where he served as cook and custodian.

Survivors include his wife, Ilene Street, LaRue; sons, Charles Street, Dallas, Burnis Street, Longview, Joey Street, Fort Worth, and Dwayne Street, LaRue; a daughter, Trina Bell, LaRue; a brother, Sammy Street Jr., LaRue; sister, Mary Garrett, Betty Thornton, Kathleen Adams and Shirley Jackson, all of California; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Hosy Lee, James Cofer, Earl Lindsey, Clyde Lindsey, Milton Lindsey, Fredrick Street, Jimmy Street, Dwight Street, Tony Lindsey and Kenneth Street.

J.C. Allen

LARUE — Funeral services for J.C. Allen, 81, of LaRue, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Union Station AME Church with the Rev. Bill Burton officiating.

Burial was in Friendship Cemetery, Chandler, under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.

Mr. Allen died Sunday, Jan. 6, in Athens.

He was born Nov. 22, 1920, in LaRue and was a lifelong resident of Henderson County.

Mr. Moore attended Moore Station schools, was a laborer and member of Union Station AME Church, where he served as chairman of Steward Board and was a member of the Male Chorus, and McDonald Lodge No. 109.

He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Allen, LaRue; a daughter, Lois Jones, LaRue; a brother, Joe Cofer, Dallas; a sister, Mary Griffin, Dallas; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Tommy Loyd Parrott

Funeral services for Tommy Loyd Parrott, 82, of Frankston were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, Frankston, with the Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating.

Burial was in Wofford Cemetery with arrangements by Thompson Funeral Home of Frankston.

Mr. Parrott died Friday, Jan. 18, in Jacksonville.

He was born June 14, 1919 in Frankston. Mr. Parrott served in the Army and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Parrott of Frankston; a son, Charles Parrott and wife Patricia of Frankston; sisters, Roberta Paris and Gladys Burton, both of Jacksonville, and Iris Gasner of Florida; and grandchildren, Sheila Parrott of Palestine, and Jason Parrott and wife Jennifer of Poynor.

Evelyn Marie Spiva

Graveside services for Evelyn Marie Spiva, 85, of Jacksonville, formerly of Troup, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Frankston City Cemetery, with Rev. Grady Higgs officiating.

Arrangements were by Thompson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Spiva died Monday, Jan. 21 in a Jacksonville hospital.

She was born March 14, 1916 in Mart, Texas.

Mrs. Spiva was a former sales clerk for Linda Kay Shop in Jacksonville and was a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra L. and Wayne Hammons of Jacksonville; a brother, T.J. Coker of Frankston; a sister, Johnnie Lou Ellis of Frankston; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna Welch

Funeral services for Donna Welch, 56, of Grand Prairie and Frankston were held at First Baptist Church in Frankston at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, with Rev. Eddie Hilburn and Rev. Scott Maze officiating.

Burial was in Southland Cemetery in Grand Prairie under direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Frankston.

Mrs. Welch died Friday, Jan. 18, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born Jan. 22, 1945 in Dallas.

Mrs. Welch was a computer operator and was employed with Taylor Publishing Co. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Frankston.

Survivors include her husband, J.C. Welch of Grand Prairie and Frankston; two sons, Joey Welch and Craig Welch, both of Grand Prairie; two brothers, Ronnie Smith and Gary Smith, both of Grand Prairie; one sister, Suzie Reynolds, of Duncanville.

Pallbearers were Robert Smith, Brent Smith, Eric Honey, David Smith, Jeff Yother and John Guerrero.

Greg Jenkins

Funeral services for Greg Jenkins, 29, of Frankston were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at the United Methodist Church in Frankston.

Burial was at the Frankston City Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Jenkins died Monday, Jan. 21 in a Tyler hospital.

He was born Oct. 26, 1972 in Tyler.

He was employed by Walker & Associates as a computer aided draftsman.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Frankston.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Jenkins of Frankston; two sons, Trey Jenkins and J.W. Mary Burks

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Burks, 85, of Frankston were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Ross officiating.

Burial was in the Sandflat Cemetery, Frankston, under the direction of John B. Harmon Undertaking Co. of Tyler.

Mrs. Burks died Saturday, Jan. 19 in the Frankston Health Care Center.

She was born July 17, 1916 in Frankston.

She attended George Washington Carver High School. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

She was a housewife and a member of the Heroine of Jericho Senior Mission.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, J.W. Burks of Frankston; three sons James E. Burks, Athens; Joe L. Burks and Oscar (Cheetah) Burks, both of Frankston; two daughters, Vernell Yepp, Hempstead and Dorothy Ellis, Frankston; one sister, Eva Mildred Jones, Frankston; 17 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren.

Ernest Tapley Allcorn

Funeral services for Ernest Tapley Allcorn were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville with Pastor Tom Lanier officiating.

Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mr. Allcorn died Friday, Jan. 11, in Kerrville.

He was born April 5, 1911, in Keith, Texas, Grimes County, and was the brother of the late Elma Allcorn Bruno of Frankston. He retired from TRW Mission Mfg. Co. in Houston.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Shave Allcorn of Kerrville; and several nieces and nephews.

T.C. Easdon Jr.

Funeral services for T.C. Easdon Jr., 73, of Frankston, formerly of Cleburne and Dallas, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston, with Johnny Anders and Danny Box officiating.

Burial was at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Easdon died Wednesday, Jan. 16, at his residence.

He was born June 1, 1928 in Cleburne.

Mr. Easdon worked for Swift & Co. for 23 years and then moved to Dallas where he managed Bud and Ben Muffler. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include sons, Terry W. Easdon, Angus, and Scott Easdon, Fort Worth; daughters, Sandy Watson, Round Rock, and Angie Phy, Troup; brother, Jim Easdon, Cleburne; sisters, Lucille Perry and Pansy Hopper, both of Cleburne, and Alice Reeve, Fort Worth; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Lloyd R. “Gus” Conner Sr.

Memorial services for Lloyd R. “Gus” Conner, 71, of Frankston were held at the VFW Post #5073 Sunday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. with the VFW chaplain and Rev. Mark Pederson officiating.

Mr. Conner died Thursday, Jan. 24, in Tyler.

He was born Jan. 13, 1930 at Buffalo, New York.

Mr. Conner was a draftsman and served in the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #5073 in Frankston.

Survivors include Joan Mary Conner of Frankston; sons, Chris Conner of Millersville, MD, Lloyd Conner Jr. of Holland, NY, Charles Conner of California and Mitchell Conner of Arizona; daughters, Colleen McKune of Lima, OH and Cathy Liezewski, West Seneca, NY.

Robert O. “Bob” Vinson

Funeral services for Robert O. “Bob” Vinson, 72, of Tyler were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at First Christian Church with Rev. Jeffrey D. Wilson and Rev Bennie Bradock officiating.

Burial was in Frankston City Cemetery under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home of Tyler.

Mr. Vinson died Saturday, Jan. 26, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born April 13, 1929 in Dallas.

He had lived in Tyler since 1987 after retiring from Dow Chemical where he had over 30 years of service. He attended North Dallas High School. Later he received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Texas Tech.

Mr. Vinson was a member of First Christian Church and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Martha Vinson; his wife, Janie Riley Vinson; brothers, Fondren Vinson and Howard Vinson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Hagar Vinson of Tyler; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and John Tilmon of Olive Branch, Miss.; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Mae Vinson of Doylestown, Penn., and Alan and Martha Vinson of Claremore, Okla.; brothers, William Vinson of Athens and Dr. J. Frank Vinson of Waco; step-sons and wives, Vern and Edda Hagar of Rowlett, John and Jane Hagar of Tyler and Richard and Donna Hagar of Garland; 18 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were nephews, grandsons, and son-in-law.

Honorary pallbearers were The Builders Class at First Christian Church.
