Paul Bridges

Funeral services for Paul Bridges, 76, of Frankston were held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Frankston with the Rev. Darrin Wood and Mr. Larry Brinkley officiating.

Masonic graveside rites followed at Earle’s Chapel Cemetery, Jacksonville.

Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Bridges passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 in Tyler.

He was born Nov. 24, 1932 in Lufkin, to Regi­nald M. Bridges and Willie Reynolds Bridges.

Mr. Bridges served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Jacksonville Masonic Lodge No. 108 AF & AM, Waco Scottish Rites, was a construction manager with Brown & Root and worked for Fluor Construction in Tyler.

He is preceded in death by his son Brian Bridges; father-in-law, Sheriff Allen Horton; brothers, R. M. and Norman Bridges and parents Reginald and Willie Bridges.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Bridges of Frankston; sons. Bobby Bridges and wife Sonja of White­house, Billy Bridges and wife Melissa of Idabel, Okla., and Paul Bridges, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Penny Prince of Tyler and Paula Willis and husband Eric of Frankston; sister, Loretta Hill of Geismar, La.; mother-in-law, Irma Horton of Frankston; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Russell, Billy Martin, Gene Dumas and Tommy Lane Smith.

Dorothy Cole

Dorothy Cole was born on Feb. 21, 1919 and went to be with the Lord on Jan. 22, 2008.

She was laid to rest at the Poynor Community Cem­etery in Poynor.

She was born in Friendswood, Texas and was of the Quaker faith. After moving to Poynor in 1977, she joined the First Baptist Church of Poynor, working with Bible school and the ladies luncheon that she enjoyed so much.

She was married to Lloyd “Doc” Cole and was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Dale Cole, and daughter, Becky Johnson.

She is survived by a son, Lyndon Cole and Paula of Canton; daughters, Ila Johnson and Charles of Alvin, Brenda Barnes and Barney of Poynor; and daughter-in-law, Patsy Cole of Frankston.

She had 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons: Derek Cole of Poynor, Jeff Cole of Hallsville, Lloyd Johnson of Santa Fe, Devin Musselman of Poynor, Shane Musselman of LaRue, Justin Barnes of Poynor, Edwin Barnes, Jr. of Poynor, Daniel Cole of Athens and Josh Cole of Athens.

Helen Masterson

A graveside ceremony was held for Helen Margaret (Campbell) Masterson on Monday, Feb. 2 at the Frankston City Cemetery.

Mrs. Masterson died on Jan. 25, 2009.

She was born August 5, 1923 in Frankston and graduated from LaPoynor High School.

Mrs. Masterson passed away in Schertz, Texas after a 10 month struggle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Clayton Masterson; her father, Willie T. Camp­bell; mother, Fairy (Woodard) Campbell; brother, Calvin “Buddy” Campbell; sister, Fairy “Sweetie” Campbell Bloxom and grandson, Steven Faro.

She is survived by her brother, Tony Campbell and wife Becky of Frankston; daughters, Sandra Faro and husband Terry of Cibolo, Texas, Sheri Masterson-Rein­hold of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Brian Faro and wife Gina and Kristen Mosley and husband Mark all of San Antonio, Claire Reinhold of Austin; great grandchil­dren, Hayden Mosley and Owen Faro of San Antonio and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Helen had a passion for living. She loved golf and fishing. In her youth, she flew parts during World War II. At age 60, she was dared to go parasailing, and she accepted the challenge.

She also loved to play cards and dominoes, and generally won. While her husband was still alive, she loved to host dinner parties and prepare “good ole home cooking.”

She and her husband made many long-time friends all over the country and the world.

Her greatest passion was for her family, to which she was totally dedicated.

Grammie, as she was affectionately called by almost everyone once she had grandchildren, or Mag as her cousins called her, would do anything for her family.

She spent many nights rocking a newborn or sick baby, or watching a grandchild jump in and climb out of a swimming pool endlessly.

At one time or another, every grandchild and great grandchild became her “monkey in a tree” as the child perched on a branch.

No matter what the event, whether it was a five minute school program or watching a granddaughter or grandson perform at a high school football half time, she was always there.

Any time there was a special holiday or celebration, whether at her house or one of the kid’s, you could always expect all kinds of great food and goodies.

She will now rest in peace with our Holy Father in Heaven.

A memorial celebration of life and resurrection was held on Jan. 30, 2009 at the Bracken United Methodist Church in San Antonio, officiated by the Rev. Mickey McCandles.

In Frankston, she was buried next to her husband with services officiated by the Rev. Jim Boyte, pastor of the LaPoynor First Bap­tist Church with arrangements made through Autry Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Hope Hospice, 611 North Walnut Avenue, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.

William Whitton

William Oscar Whitton, 82, of Coffee City, went to his heavenly home on Jan. 20, 2009.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Satur­day, Feb. 7, at Lake Area Church in Frankston with the Rev. James Farmer officiating.

Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral home in Frankston.

Mr. Whitton was born in Hornersville, Missouri on Nov. 10, 1926, the second child of William Easco and Alma Vece Whitton.

The family moved across the country and settled in Sebastopol, California in the Sonoma Valley.

Bill, or Bud, as his family called him, attended California schools and grew up working in the orchard business.

He had two brothers and six sisters: Irene, Robert, Lorene, Lois, Jean, Lloyd, Elaine and Bonnie.

As a young man, Bill joined the US Army during World War II.

He was a proud veteran. In 1950, he married Joyce Savage and the young couple made their home in Sparks, Nevada where they raised three daughters.

Bill worked hard all his life, doing heavy lifting and working mechanical wonders, building, fixing and craft­ing things, even into his later years. He was also gifted violinist and singer.

He and Joyce spent their retirement years in Coffee City and became an integral part of the church family at Lake Area Church in Berryville.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce; his three daughters, Annette, Merri Jo and Jeni; three sisters, Lois Wiley, Jean Cox and Elaine Savage; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a multitude of friends.

Kenneth Schindewolf

Graveside services for Kenneth Lloyd Schindewolf, 86, of Frankston are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at Garden Oaks Memorial Park in Berryville.

Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mr. Schindewolf passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 in Tyler.

He was born Oct. 19, 1922 in Kenton, Ohio to George Henry Schindewolf and Mary Camelia Carrouthers Schindewolf.

Mr. Schindewolf was retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Lt. Col. and was a member of Elks Lodge No. 157 in Kenton, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Schindewolf.

Survivors include daughters, Karen J. Colvin and husband Walter of Frankston and Lynn Joy Allen and companion Bill Whiel of Carlsbad, Calif; Sons, Dan Schindewolf and wife Christine of Acworth, Ga. and Phillip Schindewolf and wife Katherine of Glendale, Arizona; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be great grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

James Allen

Funeral services for James Houston Allen, 75, Frankston were held Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the chapel Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mr. Allen was born Jan. 2, 1934 in Sasakwa, Okla. and passed away on January 30, 2009 in Tyler.

Drew O'Neal Bacon

Judge Drew O'Neal Bacon, 88, devoted husband of 65 years to Sue Cole Bacon of Newton, Texas, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 at Harbor Hospital in Orange, Texas.

Judge Bacon, born on May 16, 1920 in Gilmer, graduated from Frankston High School in 1938.

He served with the 85th Seabee Battalion in Alaska during World War II. Upon graduation from the University of Texas in 1949 with business administration and law degrees, he began private practice in Newton, Texas.

He was elected district attorney, 1st Judicial District of Texas in 1957, where he served through 1959.

Judge Bacon was appointed State District Judge, 1st Judicial District in 1959 and served in that capacity until 1989.

From 1989 to the present, he served as Senior Judge, State of Texas, making Judge Bacon the longest serving State Judge in Texas judicial history.

Among Judge Bacon's accomplishments were publication contributions to Stayton's Form Book and the Texas Bar Journal, and as a lecturer for the Committee on Continuing Legal Education, State Bar of Texas.

Memberships included Judicial Section, State Bar of Texas; chairman, Committee on Uniform Court Rules; Founding President, American Law Students Association; President, 1st Judicial District Bar Association; Life Membership Recipient, 1st Judicial District Bar Association; Charter Fellow, Texas Bar Foundation and Charter Fellow, International Academy of Trial Judges.

Affiliations included Advisory Council, Three Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America, member of the Lion’s Club; member and former Post Commander of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a former Newton ISD school board member.

Judge Bacon was also a 68-year member of the Masonic lodges in Newton and Frankston.

Throughout his life, Judge Bacon devoted himself in service to his country, the law, and to his family.

Judge Bacon was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Lillie Dee Bacon and brother, Murphy Bacon, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sue Cole Bacon; his children, Drew O'Neal Bacon, Jr. and wife Michelle of Magnolia, Sylvia Bacon Thompson and husband Randy of El Dorado, Arkansas, DeLayne Bacon Pascal of Cape Cod, Maassachusetts, and Roger Howard Bacon and his wife, Karla of Newton.

He was known as Pappy, Judgee, Poppy and Grandpa to his grandchildren: Devasha, Micayla and Drew (Trey) O'Neal Bacon III; Tara Thompson Cosgrove and husband, Ryan and Devon Thompson McCall and husband, Chris; Alexis Pascal and Lawren and Brittny Bacon.

He is also survived by his brother, Billy Bacon, and wife Pattye and family and many loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Feb. 9, a the First United Methodist Church in Newton.

Burial followed in the Newton City Cemetery.

Vaudine Clakley Dansby

Funeral services for Vaudine Clakley Dansby, 89, of Frankston were held Friday, Feb. 13, at the Church of Christ in Frankston with Mr. Don Canter and Mr. Davy Carter officiating.

Burial followed at Frankston City Cemetery.

Services were under direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mrs. Dansby passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 in Frankston.

She was born June 21, 1919 in Henderson County, to Moses King and Nannie C. Saxon King.

Mrs. Dansby was a member of the Church of Christ in Frankston, a homemaker and caregiver.

She is preceded in death by her father, Moses King; mother, Nannie C. Saxon King; husbands, W. C. (Buddy) Dansby and Johney H. Clakley; grandson, Virgil Clayton (Clay) Dickerson; and sisters, Thelma French and Nellie Bivens.

Survivors include daughters, J. Christine Laughlin and husband Donald K. of Nederland, Lois Mozelle King of Tennessee Colony, Bobbie R. House of Frankston and Maude Elaine Jones and husband Dallas of Frankston; sons, Elton Ray Clakley and wife Katherine of Kirbyville, Johney Richey of Athens and Thomas Clakley and wife Stephanie of Kirbyville; 18 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were David Clakley, Donald Harmon, Jim Laughlin, Carl House, Todd House and Chris Sabulsky.

Honorary pallbearers were Dustin House, Nathan Sabulsky and Steven Clakley.

Donald Parsley

Graveside services for Donald Parsley, 82, of Onalaska, Texas are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 at Olive Branch Cemetery in Frankston with Pastor Debra Dean officiating.

Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Mr. Parsley passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 in Livingston.

He was born June 7, 1926 in Houston to Levi J. Parsley and Victorine Baker Parsley.

Mr. Parsley was a Baptist and a Union Sheet Metal worker. He was a member of Sheet Metal Union Local 54.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sons Charles Lee Parsley and Ric Allen Parsley.

Survivors include wife, Ruth Parsley of Onalaska; sons, Donald R. Parsley, II and Robert Mark Parsley, both of Onalaska; daughters, Vicky Ellen White of Houston and Nora Beth Sellars of Frankston; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Gerald Hinkle

Gerald “Jerry" Eugene Hinkle, 66, was born March 21, 1942, in Cleburne, Texas to E.O. “Gene" and Berta Corpany Hinkle.

He graduated from Cleburne High School in 1960, and married Barbara Travis on Nov. 16, 1963.

Jerry graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, Gupton Jones in 1968.

Jerry later received his bachelors of business degree.

He was a funeral director, mortician for more than 40 years and retired in 2009 as a licensed nursing facilities administrator.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Hinkle, daughters, Sheree Hinkle Hill and husband Ron, of Burleson, Angela Hinkle Flores and husband Chris, of Burleson; grandchildren, Travis Kleypas, Tabitha Hill, Ryan Hill, Jacob Hill, Aimee Hill, Mathew Flores, Michael Flores; and a sister, Judi McNabb of Cleburne.

Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 23, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, Texas.

The family requests donations to Pleasant Hill Children's Home, P.O. Box 1177, Fairfield, Texas 75240.

Arrangements were under direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.
