Lynn Elwood Snyder

Lynn Elwood Snyder, 74, of Frankston passed from this life on Friday, Feb. 1, 2007 in Tyler.

He was born March 17, 1933 in Miles, to the late Harold Erwin Snyder and Nancy Elizabeth Winston Page. Mr. Snyder worked as a plant supervisor at Lynx Energy in Chapel Hill for 14 years, was the head of detectives for the Odessa Police Dept, served on the Berryville Police Dept and attended The FBI National Academy.

He also served in the U.S. Army and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Snyder of Frankston; sons, John Snyder of Odessa and Harold Snyder of Ft. Stockton; Step-son, Daniel Zea of Lockhart; Stepdaughter, Lynne Denena of Frankston; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 4, at Garden Oaks Cemetery in Berryville with the Rev. Maurice P. Barnes presiding. Arrangements were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Clara ‘Totsy' Linnar

Clara Nell Christian (Totsy) Linnard, 80, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 after a brief illness.

Totsy was born in Brushy Creek on April 7, 1927, to Sylvester and Margaret Louise Hampton Christian.

She graduated from Frankston High School in 1944.

Working for Southwestern Bell in the Rio Grande Valley, she met and married her beloved husband of almost 58 years, James Warren Linnard.

In her many years of caring for her family and later working for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo School District and Pan American College, Totsy shared her love, warmth and caring with family, friends and everyone she met.

Her special gift was an amazing ability to connect with everyone in a deep and personal way.

She was a faithful member of Marvin United Methodist Church and the Esther Circle. She participated in many Bible studies as well as serving on the Marvin Advisory Board.

Totsy was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy, son Steve, parents, and brothers Charles and John Christian.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Linnard and wife Carolyn of McAllen; daughters, Kathleen Davis of Austin and Susan Linnard of Houston; and daughterin- law, Debbie Linnard of Brady.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Tad, Cristian and Tara Davis, Joy Speer, Julie and T.J. Linnard, Brandon and Jason Linnard and Jonathan Carranza; and three great grandchildren: Elizabeth Davis, Parker Linnard and Brandon Linnard, Jr.

Totsy is also survived by her sister, Mary Alice Moore of Palestine; brother, Fred Christian and wife Marilyn of Shreveport; brother-in-law, Russell Linnard and wife Wilma of Tyler; sister-in-law, Elvia Linnard of Sharyland, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A celebration of her life was held Sunday, Feb. 3 in the chapel of Marvin United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Baker offi ciating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Legacy Hospice, 120 E. South Town Drive, Tyler, Texas 75703; The Brushy Creek Arbor Fund, 501 Anderson County Road 4452, Palestine, 75803; or to Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler.

Clifford Howell

Funeral services for Clifford Howell, 82, of Canton were to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Eubank Chapel in Canton with the Rev. Jack Thompson and David Snyder officiating.

Interment was scheduled to follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Anderson County at noon.

Howell was born Feb. 13, 1925 in Frankston to Arthur William and Nora Westbrook Howell.

He grew up in Frankston, served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II and worked as a farmer and rancher.

He lived in East Texas and West Texas.

For many years he was known for producing the first bale of cotton in Kaufman County.

He owned and operated the cotton gin in Crandall.

In 1991, he retired to Canton. He and his wife, Helen Howell were married for 61 years. Howell was a member of Midway Church of God and The Gideons.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Howell of Canton; sons, Steve Howell and wife Sharon of Crandall and Gregory Howell and wife Mary of Forney; daughters, Gail DeLong and husband Mike of Mineola and Phyllis Clardy and husband Curtis of Canton; sisters, Ann Hodges of Houston, Elaine Malone of Frankston and Lynn Smith of Brenham; brother, Brady Howell; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International, Van Zandt Co. Camp, P.O. Box 1041, Canton, 75103.

Katherine Bohannon

Funeral services for Katherine M. Bohannon, 23, of Dallas were held Saturday, Feb. 9 at United Church of God and Christ with Elder Melvin Gray officiating.

Burial will be in Beaverdam Cemetery under the direction of Harmon Funeral Home in Daingerfield.

Miss Bohannon died Feb. 6, 2008 at Parkland Health and Hospital System.

She was born Oct. 23, 1985 in Dallas and attended Mesquite High School.

She is survived by her parents, Herbert and Connie Bohannon.

She is also survived by family members who live in the Frankston area.

Troy McDonald

Funeral services for Troy Lee McDonald, 88, of Frankston were scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Frankston with the Revs. J.A. Griffin and Mike Littlefield officiating.

Burial was to follow in Frankston City Cemetery, under direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. McDonald passed away on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 in Tyler.

He was born July 13, 1919, in Frankston to Leslie Jack and Bula Mae McDonald.

Mr. McDonald was a member of Frankston Assembly of God, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a sign-man for TXDOT.

He is survived by his wife, Opaline McDonald of Frankston; daughter, Kathy Lee Rogers and husband Alan of Hudson, Ohio; sisters, Isabell McMillan of Oakwood, Ruth Jones of Frankston, Virginia Shirmer of Nebraska and Jeanette Clark of LaPorte; grandchildren;,Harold Rogers of Greenwood, Ind., and Jennifer Ann Shriver of New Hartford, N.Y.; greatgrandchildren, Kayla Jackson and Kameron Rogers, both of Greenwood, Ind., Noah and Natalie Shriver of New Hartford, N.Y.

Pallbearers were: Tony Smith, Larry Grant McDonald, Joel B. McDonald, Rayburn Hollingsworth, Roger McDonald and Richard Bussey.

Harlee Dewberry

Services for Elder Harlee Dewberry, 92, of Chandler were held Saturday, Feb. 16, at Gentry Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder R.L. Dewberry. Elder L.D. Hayter and Elder L.C. Frater officiating under direction of Williams Funeral Home.

Burial was to follow in Bethel Cemetery in Poynor.

Mr. Dewberry died Feb. 7, 2008 in Tyler.

He was born Oct. 16, 1915 in Frankston. He attended Pine Spring public school.

He was a resident of Frankston and was a minister at Gentry Temple Church of God in Christ.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Gene Autry and Alice Dewberry of Moreno, Calif. and H.J. Jr. and Dorothea Dewberry of Dallas; daughters, Genell Brown and Arnell Simmons of Dallas and Barbara Moore of Los Angeles, Calif.; five God-daughters, Laura A. Waters, Lou Harmon, Earnestine Hayter, Jessie Johnson, and Lillie Harmon; sister, Callie Wofford; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Terrance Dewberry, Keith Gocha, Edward Simmons, Gene Dewberry, Tony Dewberry and Patrick Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers were Burnis Manoy, Henry Bell, Ledo Bell and Arthur Harmon.

Hubert Lewis

Memorial services for Hubert Lee Lewis, 80, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville and Reese, were scheduled for Monday, Feb. 18, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville, with the Rev. Dennis Harvey officiating and under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.

Mr. Lewis passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in Tyler.

Hubert was born in Reese, on March 13, 1927 to the late Ray and Inez Lewis.

He was a rancher, a merchant marine during WWII and served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1954 to 1956.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Lewis.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bateman Lewis of Jacksonville; daughters, Paula Lewis and Kathleen Lewis both of Tyler, Lisa and Steve Willis of Jacksonville; grandsons, Josh Willis of San Francisco, and Paden Lewis of Tyler, a brother, Jimmie Lewis of Jacksonville, a sister, Elizabeth Collins of Dallas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel Minter

Daniel H. "Dan" Minter, loving husband, dad, brother and TeTaw, passed away suddenly after a lengthy illness on Friday, Feb. 15, 2007 in Tyler at the age of 65.

Dan was born on March 24, 1942 in Jacksonville.

It is with great sadness we share the loss of our loved one. He always put his family first, for they were, "his life."

While he has gone to be with God, he will be greatly missed by his family and especially by his grandson, Nicholas Minter, to whom he was his "TeTaw."

"A golden heart stopped beating and working hands to rest, God broke out hearts to prove to us He only takes the best."

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sandra Ann (Sandy) Tompkins Minter of Jacksonville; beloved son and daughter-in-law, Shon and Sarah Minter of Jacksonville; and the greatest joy of his life and where his will to live came from, his grandson and best buddy, Nicholas Minter of Jacksonville; brother, Jerry Dale Minter of Chandler; sisters, Eva Mae Copeland of Rusk, Ruth McDaniel of Forney, Judy Breland of Missouri, Mary Ann Miles of Arizona, numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends and business associates.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Cordelia Minter of Jacksonville; brothers, Ricky Minter and Shub Minter; and sisters, Nell King, Esther Morris and Jeannie McCulstian.

Before his illness, Dan was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.

More recently, he was comfortable on his couch, reading, watching old westerns and times spent with his family.

Dan is a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force as a Rumanian translator stationed in Turkey.

Dan was a mighty warrior refusing to give up and knowing when to let go. He was the strength, the light, the rock and the teacher who taught us the true meaning of grace, courage and real love.

We will miss his sense of humor, strong will, and independence and most of all his smile which he shared with others frequently even though at times he was in pain.

Services were held on Monday, Feb. 18 in the Autry Funeral Home chapel in Jacksonville with burial to follow at Liberty Hill cemetery in Frankston with the Rev. Doc Lazeren officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were the employees of Global Fabricators, Inc. of Jacksonville, the company Dan owned, Wayne Cessna, Frank Dublin, Tommy Murray, Bill Phillips, Richard Slawson and Floyd Stiefer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to HOPE of Jacksonville in Danís memory.

Mary Alexander

Celebration services for Mary Erwin Alexander, 87, of Frankston, were scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24, at the United Methodist Church of Frankston with the Rev. Doug Howell and Mr. Jerry Beard presiding.

Burial was to follow at Frankston City Cemetery under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Alexander passed away on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 in Frankston.

She was born May 12, 1920 in Bethel, Texas to Hugh Urban and Rilla Odessa Skinner Bagwell.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Frankston, Order of Eastern Star Blue Bell Chapter in Houston, the Red Hat Society (Scarlet Ladies), Kickapoo Story League, Frankston Garden Club and was a retired credit manager for Sears in Houston.

She is survived by a son, W. Lee Erwin and wife, Pamela Belton; daughter, Rilea Cook and husband, Mike of Frankston; step-sons, Bill Alexander of Emerald Bay and John Alexander of Jacksonville; step-daughter, Joyce Shipp of Emerald Bay; brothers, George Bagwell of Chula Vista, Calif. and Gene Bagwell of Freeport; sister, Dot Eastup of Greenville; 8 grandchildren, Kristen and Peter Kuczkowski, Wade and Stacy Cook, Trent and Nicci Cook, Bill and Lea Anne Erwin, Tommy Erwin, Mary Anne and Peter Hartley, Mark and Tiffany Alexander and Lance and Stacy Alexander; and great-grandchildren, Kara, Katy & Will Kuczkowski, Emily, Jared and Baby Cook; an aunt, Louise Darby of Sulphur Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Wade Cook, Trent Cook, Bill Erwin, Tommy Erwin, Peter Kuczkowski, and Peter Hartley.

Honorary pallbearers were The Lunch Bunch.

James 'Pete' Westbrook

Funeral services for James H. "Pete" Westbrook, 89, of Frankston, were scheduled for Monday, Feb. 25, at the First Baptist Church of Frankston with the Rev. Darin Woods and Rev. J.A. Griffin presiding.

Burial was to follow at Frankston City Cemetery under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Westbrook passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 in Frankston.

He was born Jan. 4, 1918 in Frankston, to Floyd and Annie Mae Westbrook.

He was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church of Frankston, served in the U.S. Army and was a Rancher.

Mr. Westbrook was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Lee Westbrook and parents, Floyd and Annie Mae Westbrook.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Cathey Westbrook of Frankston; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy & Jessie Hickman of Frankston; grandchildren, Keith and Kevin Westbrook, Andrea Lowe and Aaron Hickman; great grandchildren, Ford Lowe, Keaton and Jake Westbrook.

Pallbearers were Dana Bizzell, Mike Cook, Joe Dale Dickerson, Jamie Hyde, Jesse Smith, Jr. and Jimmy Moore.

James 'Jimmy' Smith Jr.

Funeral services are pending for James E. (Jimmy) Smith Jr., 39, of Kansas City, Mo., who died on Feb. 25.

The services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.

Born in Tyler, Smith was a 1987 graduate of Frankston High School. He earned bachelor and master's degrees from Texas A&M and was director of Burns & McDonnell, an environmental engineering firm.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra of Kansas City; two children, Cassidy and Colleen Smith; parents, Jim and Sue Smith of Frankston; and sister, Laurie Elkins of Plano.

Shane L. Morgan

Funeral services for Shane L. Morgan, 34, of Berryville, were scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23, at First Baptist Church in Frankston with Larry Morgan, Perry Eaton, George Folmar and Thomas McGarity officiating.

Burial followed in the Leagueville Cemetery. Morgan passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008.

Funeral arrangements were provided by Cooper Funeral Home in Athens.

Shane Morgan was born Nov. 1, 1973 in Nashua, New Hampshire to Larry and Linda Bell Morgan.

He moved to Texas at an early age and graduated from Cross Roads High School in 1993.

He married Lisa Eberhart on Dec. 5, 1994. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Bible Baptist College, East Texas Baptist University and Criswell College.

He worked with the youth in several church ministries before becoming the pastor of Hilltop Baptist Church in Berryville.

Shane is survived by his wife, Lisa Morgan of Berryville; daughter, Emily Paige Morgan of Berryville; parents, Larry and Linda Morgan; parents-in-law, Bill and Betty Eberhart of Leagueville; grandmother, Mary Morgan of Tyler; brother and sister-in-law, Kim and Sheila Morgan of Point; sisters and brothers-in-law, Missy and Randall Jennings of Kountze, Lori and Mark Cincar of Athens, Wendy and Rabon Metcalf of College Station, Jamie and Jeremy Rouche of Branson, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers included Kim Morgan, Ron Ivey and deacons of the Hilltop Baptist Church of Berryville.

Kalee Morgan

Funeral services for Kalee Elisabeth Morgan, 12, of Berryville, were scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23, at First Baptist Church in Frankston with Larry Morgan, Perry Eaton, George Folmar and Thomas McGarity officiating.

Burial followed in the Leagueville Cemetery.

She passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008.

Funeral arrangements were provided by Cooper Funeral Home of Athens.

Kalee was born Dec. 5, 1995 to Shane and Lisa Eberhart Morgan.

She lived all of her life in Texas and attended Brownsboro Intermediate School where she played the clarinet in the band and was in Gifted and Talented.

She loved Jesus, her family and friends.

She enjoyed art, drawing, horses, and singing in her church choir and was a member of the youth department of the Hilltop Baptist Church in Berryville.

Kalee is survived by her mother, Lisa Morgan of Berryville; sister, Emily Paige Morgan of Berryville; paternal grandparents, Larry and Linda Morgan; maternal grandmother, Betty Eberhart of Leagueville; maternal grandfather, Bill Eberhart of Murchison; greatgrandmothers, Blanche Williams of Leagueville, Elsie Eberhart of Tyler and Mary Morgan of Tyler; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers include Blaine Eberhart, Ben Fulgham, Bran Fulgham, Blake Fulgham and Joe Don Shelton.
