Here are the obituaries posted for the current month from information provided courtesy of local and area funeral homes and published on their websites or those submitted by families. We will add pictures to archived obituaries from the print version of The Citizen newspaper prior to September 2019 when available. Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Douglas Richardson

Douglas Moore Richardson, 71, of Frankston, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, at his Frankston home surrounded by family. Doug was born on Aug. 20, 1943, in Marlin, Texas.

Doug had been a faculty member for 41 years at Eastfield College teaching business management and serving as the director of the co-op program. Last year he was honored with a longevity plaque recognizing him for 40 years of service. Doug also spent 25 years officiating youth football.

Doug was an active member of various social groups in Palestine. He was a member of Hollytree Country Club of Tyler, where he enjoyed playing golf. Doug also cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by parents Ray and Ethel Richardson; brother Raymond Richardson; and sisters Geneva Warner and Sue Johnston.

Doug is survived by his wife of 48 years Karen Richardson of Frankston; daughters Robin Aguirre of Plano, and Renda Garner and husband Jeff of Athens; son Randy Richardson and wife Andrea of Paris, France; sister Barbara McNair of Austin; nephew Joe McNair and wife Diana of Austin; and nine grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the DCCCD Foundation for the “Doug Richardson Memorial Scholarship. The website is http://www.foundation.dcccd.edu .


Jason Forester

Services for Jason Forester, 44, of LaRue were held Sunday, Dec. 21, at New York Baptist Church with Jason Taylor officiating.

Burial followed in New York Cemetery.

Jason passed away Dec. 16, 2014, in Tyler.

He was born Aug. 8, 1970, in Tyler to Darrell and Jackie Belle McLane Forester.

Jason was a life-long resident of LaRue and a graduate of LaPoynor High School in 1988.

He attended Texas A & M University and graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with an accounting degree. Jason had a life-long career with the family business, Forester Brothers Cattle Company and Athens Commission Company. He was a loving father and an avid dog owner who loved his dog “Bella.”

He was preceded in death by his dad Darrell “Pee Wee” Forester.

Survivors include his daughters Heather Belle Forester, Tiffany Nicole Forester, both of LaRue; mother Jackie Belle Forester of LaRue; brothers Brad Forester, Bryan Forester and wife Julie, all of LaRue; numerous nieces and one nephew and two great nieces.

Pallbearers were William Lipsey, Jay Quade, Breck Dodd, Larry Ledbetter, Shawn Reynolds, Sheb Shaw, John Reynolds and Jose Estrada.

Honorary pallbearers were Tim Foote, George Foote, Chad Trammell and Felix Aguilar.

Jackie S. Peterson

Funeral services for Jackie S. Peterson, 69, of Tyler, formally of Frankston, were held Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with Pastor Dan Cozart officiating. Interment was at Noonday Cemetery.

Mrs. Peterson passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, in Tyler.

She was born Feb. 19, 1945, in Dallas.

Jackie was a member of Grace Community Church in Tyler. She worked as a paramedic for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tommy and Atma Bernice Cook.

Survivors include her son Erik Peterson and wife Shawntae of Chandler; brother Ben Cook of Texas and sister Sue Sessions and husband LeRoy of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Connnor Rice, Cason Rice, Ellie Peterson and Laci Peterson.


Miriam Clarice Roberts Fincher

Funeral services for Miriam Clarice Roberts Fincher, 82, of Frankston, formally of Dallas, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Poynor with the Rev. Paul and The Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Loving remarks will be made by nephew, Mike Robinson.

Mrs. Fincher passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, in Frankston.

She was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Poynor.

Clarice was a member of First Baptist Church of Poynor and had been active in the church her whole life. She played basketball in her younger years. She was a member of Eastern Star and was the Worthy Matron from June 2011 to June 2012. Clarice trained under the founder Estee Lauder and was a sales representative for the company and was a skilled beautician and shop owner. She always kept a clean house, loved spending time with family, and enjoyed Blue Bell ice cream.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Eunice Roberts; husband Eldridge Grant Fincher; sisters Aleen Douglas, Geraldine Dees, Pat Ashworth; and brother A.B. Roberts.

Survivors include her daughters Debby McMinn, Kathy Herrington and husband Jeff, all of Frankston; sons John Robert McMinn of Houston, Larry Lee McMinn of Channelview, Steven Keith McMinn and wife Sharon of Pavo, Georgia; sisters Louise Shelton and husband Lloyd of Henderson, Marilyn Sue Robison and husband Johnny of Frankston, and Johnny Lee Burnett and husband Bobby of Marble Falls. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Alexia Kay Herrington, Jessica Lee McMinn-Hall; sister-in-law Loree Roberts; four great grandchildren Emma Rayne Hall, Rylee Gilbert, Kaiden Alex Hall, Aleiah Kay McKee; and multiple nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank First Baptist Church of Poynor and The Order of the Eastern Star for their loving support.

Rather than customary condolences, donations in memory of Clarice may be made to the Eastern Star Chapter 1113, Frankston, Texas 75763.
