Pictures with archived obituaries posted after that will be added in cooperation with funeral homes or on requests from families.  As was the tradition of the Citizen newspaper, obituaries are published at no charge.

Elizabeth Burris

Funeral services for Elizabeth Burris, 77, were held Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 3:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Frankston with Chris White and Steve Handley officiating.

Burial was in Poynor Community Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burris died Monday, Dec. 4.

She was born Aug. 4, 1923 in Pontotoc, Okla. She and her late husband were the previous owners of B&B Food Store in Coffee City.

Mrs. Burris is survived by her daughter and son in-law Tawana and Rusty Blair of Frankston; sister and brother in-law, Crystal and Bob Steele of Southlake; grandson Brit Blair; and granddaughter Brooke Blair.

Pallbearers were Randy Steele, Dan Steele, James Beard, Jimmy Moore, Steve Handley, and Bill Cook

Lula Mae Walker

Funeral services for Mrs. Roy "Lula Mae" Walker, 92, of Frankston were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.A. Griffin and the Rev. Jack Clopp officiating.

Burial was in the Wofford Cemetery near Frankston under direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mrs. Walker died Saturday, Dec. 2, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 24, 1907 in Cooper, and was a member of the Frankston Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Walker was also an active lifetime member of the local Frankston Ladies Auxiliary of the local VFW Post 5073 for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy H. Walker, and six of her seven children.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Kimbrell of Frankston; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were Mike Walker, Kathy Phillips, Joyce Rutledge, Roy Rutledge, Robbin Wolf and Phillip Walker.

Honorary pallbearers were Ken Walker, Deborah King, Susan Allen and Wayne Wilburn.

J.B. Waddill

Graveside services for J.B. Waddill, 91, of Frankston were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Olive Branch Cemetery, Brushy Creek Community near Frankston, with the Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Waddill died Saturday, Dec. 2, in a Jacksonville hospital.

He was born June 17, 1909.

Survivors include a nephew, Jack Slover and close friend, Herbert Riley, Frankston.

Robert Lee McLane

KILGORE - Funeral services for Robert Lee McLane, 75, of Kilgore, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Highway 42 Church of Christ with Scott Finley and Dale Hendricks officiating.

Burial was in Frankston City Cemetery, Frankston, under direction of Rader Funeral Home, Kilgore.

Mr. McLane died Sunday, Dec. 3, in Longview.

He was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Frankston to the late Lee and Ruby McLane, where he grew up and attended school. Mr. McLane served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a barber and moved to Kilgore in 1953.

Mr. McLane was a founding member and deacon of Highway 42 Church of Christ, former post commander and current finance officer of Kilgore American Legion Post 280.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jennia Vandora McHale, Billy Lewis McLane and Peggy JoAnn Baxter.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia McLane of Kilgore; daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Tom Cates of San Antonio; two granddaughters, Kendra and Alison Cates of San Antonio; five sisters, Martha Jane Hicks, Wanda Dorris Houston, Mary Louise Phillips and Margaret June Brown, all of Frankston, and Jackie Bell Forester of LaRue; brothers, Jimmie Ray McLane of Frankston and Wylie Morris McLane of Vidor; and numerous nieces of nephews.

If desired, memorials may be made to American Legion, Kilgore Post 280.

Anna Lee Chapman

LARUE - Services for Anna Lee Haynes Chapman, 82, LaRue, were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 at New York Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Mills officiating, under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.

Burial was in LaRue Cemetery.

Mrs. Chapman died Dec. 4 in a Tyler nursing home.

She was born Aug. 3, 1918, in LaRue to the late Anthony Samuel and Lillie Emmaline Alexander Haynes, and was a lifelong resident. She was in the first graduating class at LaPoynor High School and attended Henderson County Junior College(now Trinity Valley Community College). She worked five years at Hollywood Vassarette and for Curtis Mathes Manufacturing for 25 years prior to retiring. She was a member of New York Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert B. "Bud" Chapman; and sister, Mildred "Mitt" Landers.

Survivors include son and daughter in-law, Robert and Ann Chapman, Athens; daughter and son in-law Carolyn and Robert Baron, LaRue; brothers and sister in-law, Thomas Haynes, Weatherford, James Haynes, Longview, and Frank and Gayle Haynes, Murchison; sisters and brother in-law, Alice and Jim Baggerman, Eugene, Ore., Carrie Osborne, Newcastle, Okla., Julia B. and Leon Hatter, Jackson, Tenn., Jo and Dan Taylor, Forney, Hazel Nell and William "Square" Walker, LaRue, and Mary Frances Hall, Dallas; grand daughter LeAnn and husband Shawn Stanfield, LaRue, great-grandson Steven Simmons, LaRue; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers were Lanny Reynolds, Billy Jack Reynolds, Mark Mills, Mike Ouzts, David Anderson and Ray Smith.

Mrs. Bonnie M. Morris

Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie M. Morris, 74, of Mixon were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Mixon Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Lester Foreman officiating.

Burial was in Mixon Cemetery under direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mrs. Morris died Monday evening, Dec. 4, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Cherokee County and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Morris was a member of Mixon Missionary Baptist Church. She was a housewife and was formerly employed by Marja Brassiere Co.

She was preceded in death by a son, Travis Elbert Morris and a daughter, Debra Kay Elmore.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Dale and JaNell Morris of Frankston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Melvin Hill of Wasilla, Alaska, and Rebecca and Robert Elmore of Frankston; one son-in-law, Bert Elmore of Indiana; two sisters, Myrtie Scurlock of Mixon and Maxine Adams of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family members served as pallbearers.

Fred Hicks McGuffey

Memorial services for Fred Hicks McGuffey, 67, of Frankston were held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. Kevin King officiating.

Mr. McGuffey died Wednesday, Dec. 6, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born Jan. 14, 1933 in Athens.

McGuffey was a retired painter and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, W.C. McGuffey Jr. and R.T. McGuffey.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

J. D. Lane

Graveside services for J.D. Lane, 60, of Gilmer were held Thursday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. at Larissa Cemetery in Cherokee County with Bernie Baur and W.W. Cooksey officiating.

Mr. Lane died Monday, Dec. 11 in Gilmer.

He was born Nov. 11, 1940 in Temple. He was a member of the Greer Blvd. Church of Christ. Mr. Lane was a retired pipeline welder and member of Pipeliners Union No. 798.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of Gilmer; children, Daga Lloyd of Tyler and Heather Lane of Gilmer; brothers, Bill McFalls of Greenville, S.C. and Rocky Lane of Frankston; sisters, Judy Boatman of Tyler and Rita Cotte of Seattle, WA; his mother, Mary Viola Morgan of Seattle; father and step mother, W.A. and Sarah McFalls of Greenville, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were Dagan Lloyd, Brian Boatman, Johnny Boatman, Dwayne Sackett, Richard Sackett and Howard Thedford.

Sidney E. Morris

Funeral services for Sidney E. Morris, 81, of Frankston were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Mixon Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Lester Foreman officiating.

Burial was in Mixon Cemetery under direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mr. Morris died Sunday, Dec. 10, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born May 15, 1919 in Jacksonville and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Morris was a member of Mixon Missionary Baptist Church. He was retired from the Texas State Highway Department after 20 years of service in Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Morris and former wife, Bonnie Morris.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Dale and JaNell Morris of Frankston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Murl and Melvin Hill of Wasilla, Alaska and Rebecca Elizabeth and Robert Elmore of Frankston; one sister Louise Cook of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dane Guillory, Wayne Nichols, Travis Elmore, Andy Hill, Brian Hefner, Robert Elmore, Anthony Guthrie and Roger Carroll.

Rick Winstead

Funeral services for Rick Winstead, 46, of Frankston were held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. at Renfro Memorial Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. Don Harvey officiating.

Burial was in Norwood Cemetery in Hearne at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday under direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home.

Mr. Winstead died Friday, Dec. 8, in Frankston.

He was born March 2, 1954 in Ft. Hood, Texas and has resided in this area for the past five years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mr. Winstead was a gunsmith employed by Kickapoo Gun Shop in Frankston. He was a Mason. Mr. Winstead had served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Winstead in 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Johni Winstead of Frankston; his mother, Joy Winstead of Bullard; one son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Monica Winstead of Madisonville; one daughter, Chastayne Taylor of Frankston; two brothers, Curtis Winstead of Bullard and Gary Winstead of Seven Points; one sister, Darlene Winstead of Tyler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Rick Ritter, Shane Deyo, Ryan Witherspoon, Gary Winstead, Lynn Winstead, and Curtis Winstead.

Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Burton, Phillip Goodwin, Jim Barr, Scott Clark, James Mathis, Jeff Smith and James "Buzz" Montgomery.

Laverne Hefelfinger

Memorial services for Laverne Hefelfinger, 64, of Frankston were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at HillTop Baptist Church with the Rev. George Folmar officiating under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Hefelfinger died Thursday, Dec. 14.

She was born March 6, 1936, in Limestone County.

Mrs. Hefelfinger was a nurse assistant and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.I. "Will" Hefelfinger, and father, Joe Walts.

Survivors include sons, J.D. "Butch" Hefelfinger, W.I. "Bo" Hefelfinger Jr. and Dan Hefelfinger, all of Frankston; daughters, Phyllis E. Boles and Ruthie Farmer, both of Frankston; mother, Ruth Stone, Marlin; brother, Joe Walts Jr., San Antonio; sister, Laura "Rene" Hefelfinger, New Caney; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Alma Howell

Graveside services for Alma Howell, 86, of Frankston were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Frankston, with the Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating under direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Howell died Thursday, Dec. 14, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born Feb. 22, 1914, in Frankston, and was a homemaker and member of United Methodist Church in Frankston.

Survivors include sons, Brady Howell, Dallas, and Clifford Howell, Canton; daughters, Elaine Malone, Frankston, Lynn Smith, Brenham, and Ann Hodges, Frankston; sister, Omega Hines, Frankston; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were grandsons.

Billy Gearl Roper

Graveside services for Billy Gearl Roper, 46, of New Summerfield were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Jarratt Cemetery near Jacksonville under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Mr. Roper died Thursday, Dec. 14 in New Summerfield.

He was born Nov. 24, 1954 in Jacksonville.

He was associated with Roper and Son Tire Service and was a member of Beall Chapel Baptist Church, Jacksonville.

Survivors include a brother, Roger Roper of Frankston; sisters, Gay Horton of Ft. Towson, OK, Faye James of Hugo, OK and Loretta Hayes of Jacksonville; one niece, three nephews, two great-nephews and one great niece.

Michael Wooldridge

Graveside services for Michael Wooldridge, 57, Frankston, formerly of Hobbs, N.M., were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Proffitt Cemetery, Young County, with the Rev. Marie Helm officiating under direction of Burks-Walker-Tippitt Funeral Home, Tyler.

Mr. Wooldridge died Wednesday, Dec. 13, in Frankston.

He was born Feb. 17, 1943, in Odessa to the late Everett "Cotton" and Wilma "T" Cole Wooldridge.

Mr. Wooldridge served in the Army during the Vietnam War, was a draftsman for New Mexico Institute Mining and Technology, and a member of United Methodist Church in Hobbs, N.M.

He moved from Hobbs, N.M., to Frankston three months ago.

Survivors include son, Michael Scott Wooldridge, Frankston; daughter, Christi Lynette Buhrle, Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Janie Rocha, Tyler; and three grandchildren.
