Russell Jr. and Leone Turner Russell as well as her sister Elaine Russell Coffman and brother in law Wesley Coffman. Also preceding her was her beloved husband, George F. Mixon Jr. Nancy leaves behind her son George F. Mixon III, his wife Lisa, their children Lela Mixon, and George F. Mixon IV. Survived also by her daughter Cindy Mixon and her son Austin Mixon. Nancy spent the majority of her life in Dallas where she attended and graduated from The Hockaday School. She attended and graduated from Texas Womens University. Together with her husband George she raised her three children in Dallas. She was active in her church and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church in Poynor, Texas. She was also a member of the Dallas Woman’s Club. Her main focus throughout her 88 years was loving and caring for her husband and family. She had an incomparable love of animals and raised many dogs, cats, horses, and chickens. She was an avid lover of the great outdoors. She hunted deer, and wild hogs on her ranch in East Texas. She loved to go fishing and ride the trails on a 4-wheeler. She spent her last eight years living on the ranch she so dearly loved. How blessed her children and grandchildren are to have had her, and her Godly influence in their lives. She loved the Lord and showed those around her with her actions. She taught many bible study classes and was a profound influence and example of a Godly wife and mother. How she will be missed! Her desire for those left behind would be for them to commit their lives to Jesus, accept His free gift of salvation and forgiveness of sin then grow in their personal relationship with Him. She was born Nov. 10, 1928 in Frankston to John Wesley Murphey and Pearl Westbrook Murphey. Marie was the youngest of five kids -– four boys and one girl. Eddie Marie Stringfield Edddie Marie Stringfield 1928-2020 Marie lived most of her life in the Poynor community. She graduated from LaPoynor School and married Carl (Buster) Stringfield on Aug. 1, 1946 and they had three children. Marie went to work at the LaPoynor School as a cafeteria supervisor and served some of the best hot rolls and meals for 22 years. Marie enjoyed her job and attended and supported LaPoynor basketball games for years with her husband, Carl. Among Marie’s talents was sewing and quilting. She quilted many beautiful quilts for all her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren. She also made wedding dresses for both daughters and her daughter-in-law. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Stringfield and daughter, Belinda Hardman and all of her four brothers – Truitt Murphey, Ray Murphey, Dudley Murphey and Dyke Murphey, and her parents Wesley and Pearl Murphey. She was looking forward to being in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ next to Salvation, being adopted by the late D.H. and Cara May Patrick and Lella B. McKee (her mother’s sister and like a mother to Phyl). Phyllis Hart Phyllis Patrick Hart 1934-2020 The McKee sisters, Cara May and Lella, were publishers of The Frankston Citizen from 1912 to 1929, more than 16 years, according to a history of the newspaper. Phyllis was a born-again believer and member of West Lake Baptist Church and the Oasis class at West Lake since 1986. Phyl grew up in Frankston where she was a cheerleader at Frankston High School, later an Apache Belle at Tyler Junior College and a graduate of U.T. Tyler (with honors). She lived in Overton for 23½ years, then moved to Chandler in 1984 and was a resident there for the last 36 years. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; Aunt Lella; son Pat and sisters, Charlene Stone, Doris Blandin; brothers Jack, Harold, Dean and Donald; and infant siblings, Jerry and Shirley. She is survived by a sister, Pat of Boise, ID; son, Michael Hart; four grandsons and nine great-grandchildren. Marvin Holcomb Marvin Holcomb 1939-2020 To the friends and family of Marvin Holcomb, we would like to honor our father by sharing a few things about the man he was and the legacy he left. Marvin was born July 23, 1939 to Marshall Pink and Addie Mae Holcomb in Tennessee Colony. He grew up on a farm near Bradford where he learned to farm peanuts, watermelons, raise hogs and cattle. He attended LaPoynor High School where he played basketball, sang in the choir, drove a school bus his senior year and met his lifelong sweetheart, Rosemary Bristow. Shortly after graduation in 1957, they married and started their 63-year journey together. His first job was in Dallas at Proctor and Gamble. They soon returned to East Texas and purchased the New York Store which they owned for 14 years. While a store owner, he began to carry the mail out of the LaRue post office. He traveled the roads in the LaRue/New York area for 35 years delivering mail. After retiring in 1995, he began his life as a full-time rancher south of LaRue. We have many, many interesting tales of working cattle and living daily life with Daddy as he somehow made work fun. Daddy served on the Henderson County Memorial Hospital Board, Henderson County Appraisal Board, LaPoynor ISD Board of Trustees and on the Board of the First State Bank of Brownsboro for over 40 years. He served as the minister of music at the New York Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Flint and Highland Park Baptist Church in Kilgore. Their motto was “you can never out give the Lord”. From humble beginnings, Deeda and GG worked very hard and their generosity has touched many lives. Grand Dad was a hard-working, loyal, faithful man of God. We think of him as a Godly man who loved his family unconditionally. Mr. Holcomb was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Glen “Shorty” Holcomb and his son-in-law Mark Mills. Phyllis Patrick Hart

Betty Jean Beard

Betty Jean Beard, born October 24, 1934 to Samuel and Mary Elizabeth (Britton) Hammons, entered eternal life on August 31, 2020. She was 85 years old.

A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Frankston City Cemetery. Bro. George Folmar will officiate. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doyle “Doodle” Beard; sister, Peggy Hammons Newland; and brother, Charles Hammons.

Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her sons, Larry Allen Beard and wife Diane, and Steve Leon Beard, all of Frankston; a brother, James Hammons and wife Maggie of Jacksonville. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amanda Beard and Stacy James and husband Chance; and great-grandchildren Emma, Sadie and Ruthie James.
