June Garner

Funeral services for June Garner, 74, of Frankston were held Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Frankston under the direction of Autry Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Wiley officiating. Interment was at Ater Cemetery near Gatesville.

Mrs. Garner passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, in Tyler.

She was born Nov. 7, 1939, in Ames, to Earl and Bida Watkins McCorkle.

June was affiliated with First Baptist Church of Frankston. She spent 37 years teaching and was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators.

June was the youngest of 10 children whom all preceded her in death except three brothers. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Charles Garner of Frankston; son Christopher Todd Garner of Dallas; granddaughter Christina Marie Garner of Dallas; brothers Truman McCorkle and wife Helen of Calif., Gene McCorkle and wife Russie of Gatesville, and Bob McCorkle and wife Betty of Burleson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rev. Richard Lee Palmer

Services for the Rev. Richard Lee Palmer,82, LaRue, were held Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Athens with the Revs. Edwin McDaniel, Everett McCollum and Dr. Faulk Landrum officiating.

Burial followed in LaRue Cemetery under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.

Rev. Palmer died March 29, 2014, in the home of his daughter.

He was born March 12, 1932, in LaRue to the late Jessie William and Dora Catherine Richardson Palmer.

Following graduation from LaPoynor High School in 1950, Richard began working as a carpenter learning the construction trade. He later served as general superintendent for multiple construction firms before organizing his own company. Shortly after building new homes for each of his children, he retired from construction in1998.

In 1976 Rev. Palmer was asked to fill the pulpit for a minister who was ill. Since that first Sunday, he has served Wesley United Methodist Church and Crescent Heights United Methodist Church in Athens. His love and compassion for people extended far beyond his Sunday pulpits. He was gifted with ministering to those in nursing homes, hospitals and the homebound, regardless of their denominational preference.

Rev. Palmer formerly served on the LaPoynor ISD School Board and always was an avid supporter of all LaPoynor athletics.

He was very involved in his grandsons lives, teaching them his knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, gardening, raising cattle and how to be a good steward of the land.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers J.W. Palmer, Robert Andy Palmer; sisters Addie Mae Holcomb, Elsie Fay Lindsey, Betty Catherine Trent; his first wife Mary Carol Palmer and infant daughter Sharon Lynn Palmer.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years Mary Palmer; son Richard Carey Palmer and wife Debbie; daughter Pamala Lee Solis and husband Ignacio, all of LaRue; grandsons Jacob Palmer, Landon Palmer, Zachary Lee Solis and Caleb William Solis.

Pallbearers were Jacob Carey Palmer, Zachary Lee Solis, Larry Holcomb, Michael Holcomb, Ronald Hardy, Tommy Little.

Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Holcomb, Shorty Holcomb and Ronnie Holcomb.

Brian McCoy

Funeral services for Brian Dana McCoy, Sr., 57, of Frankston were held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with Brother Samuel Priddy officiating. Interment was at Garden Oaks Cemetery in Berryville.

Mr. McCoy passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at his home in Frankston after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born June 11, 1956, in Beaumont to Donald Lee and Bernice Leacroy McCoy, Sr.

Brian loved spending time with his children and grandbabies. He enjoyed fishing and all other kinds of sports.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee McCoy, Sr.

Survivors include his beloved wife Lisa McCoy of Frankston; mother Bernice McCoy of Vidor; daughter Ashton Loebig and husband Steven of Frankston; sons Ryan McCoy and wife Christen of Jacksonville, Brian Dana McCoy, Jr of Vidor; brothers Donnie McCoy and wife Janet, Blue McCoy, and David McCoy and wife Lynn, all of Vidor; sister Cheryl McCoy of Tyler; mother-in-law Susan Bombard and husband James of Chandler; father-in-law Elwood Duval and wife Linda of Biloxi, Miss.; grandchildren Kelsey, Addison, Tristan, and Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Mark Humberson, Bubba McCoy, Cary Don McCoy, Andrew Duval, Daniel Nick, and Jarrod McCoy.

John Wiley

Funeral services for John Wiley, 85, of Frankston were held Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. Larry Bewling officiating. Interment was at Frankston City Cemetery.

Mr. Wiley passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, in Tyler.

He was born Sept. 19, 1928, in Limestone County to John and Gertie Wiley.

He served as former mayor of Mart, Texas, and was a retired barber. He was a member of Lake Community Baptist Church in Dogwood City and the Bee Keepers Association.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loreta Wiley, who passed away in 1971, and his second wife, Carolyn Wiley.

Survivors include his daughter Dana Bratcher and husband Tim of Lott; sons Jimmy D. Slaughter and wife Debbie of Brownsboro, Joe W. Slaughter and wife Ann of Flint; sisters Mary Houston of Arlington, and Bonnie Sills of Pasadena; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Zach Bratcher, Seth Bratcher, John Slaughter, Brad Schmidt, Joe Slaughter, Jr., Stephen Slaughter, Chris Chambless, and Daren Cortez.

Sheila Beckham

Memorial services for Sheila Beckham, 57, of Frankston were held Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. George Folmar officiating.

Mrs. Beckham passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in Frankston.

Sheila was born September 25, 1956, in Baytown to Carl T. and Moizelle Beckham.

Sheila was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved going to visit her grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her. She loved family get-togethers with her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. They all loved her very much and she will be dearly missed.

She was a member of the Assembly of God and of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Frankston.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her beloved daughter Leslie Younger and husband Jason of Lumberton; sisters Brenda Cathey of Frankston, Barbara Dick and husband Don of Bullard; brother Charles Beckham and wife Sharon of Baytown; four grandchildren Kylie, Collin, Blake, and Addison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Misty Marshall

Graveside services for Misty Marshall, 36, of Frankston were held Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Wofford Cemetery in Frankston with the Rev. George Folmar officiating. Services were under direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mrs. Marshall passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Tyler.

Misty was born July 27, 1977, in Houston to Duane and Elizabeth Benjamin.

She was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Frankston.

Survivors include her husband Welton “Butch” Marshall of Jacksonville; son Deion Marshall; daughter Destiny Marshall, both of Frankston; sister Tracy Williams of Houston; and grandmother Ruth Cowger of Frankston.

Sheena Martin

Sheena Martin, 57, of Frankston, passed away Sunday morning, April 13, 2014, at East Texas Hospice of Tyler.

A memorial was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at Berryville Community Church.

She was born in Arlington to Barbara Hodges and Charles Alvin Cox.

Living family members include daughter Toni Martin of Dallas, daughter Natasha Martin of Wisconsin, husband Johnny Martin of Wisconsin, brother Bobby Hodges of Florida and sister Debra Hodges of Florida.

Sheena was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Hodges, father Charles Alvin Cox, step-father Jimmy Hendricks, step-father Roy Hodges and sister Cindy Tucker.

Archie Stivner

Funeral services for Archie Stivner, 80, of Frankston was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with J.J. Altier officiating. Interment was at Frankston City Cemetery. After the service, family received friends at 1 p.m. at 7-B Restaurant.

Mr. Stivner passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, in Tyler.

He was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Port Arthur to Archie and Lillian Stivner.

Archie served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for 10 years. He was a member of and a treasurer for The East Texas Wood Turners and a 32nd Degree Mason at the Blue Lodge in Houston. He worked for 25 years as a salesman for Snap-on Tools.

He is preceded in death by his son Art Stivner; daughter Dawn Smith; and sister Joyce Jernigan.

Survivors include his wife Lorene Stivner of Frankston; daughter Nancy MacKinnon of Frankston; brothers Daniel Stivner of Pineland, David Stivner of Orange; sister Annie Ruth Badon of Port Arthur; 7 grandchildren Naomi of Ft. Worth, Emily of New York, and Cindy, Teresa, Marilyn, Margie, Timothy, all of Florida; and special great grandson Cooper of Ft. Worth.

Pallbearers will be members of The East Texas Woodturners.

Gwendolyn Cook Boyett

Funeral services for Gwendolyn Cook Boyett, 97, of Frankston, were held Friday, April 18, 2014, at Frankston Church of Christ with Minister Dan Canter officiating. Interment was at Frankston City Cemetery. Services were under direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mrs. Boyett passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Frankston.

Gwendolyn was born October 15, 1916, in Frankston to Granville and Mae Billingsley.

She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ. Gwen enjoyed visiting with sisters and family on the front porch.

She is preceded in death by parents; first husband J.M. “Gotch” Cook; second husband Harold Boyett; sister Dixie Cox; and brother Marsh “Red” Billingsley.

Survivors include her son Mike Cook and wife Rilea of Frankston; daughter Kay McDonald and husband Roger of Frankston; son Pat Cook and wife Rose of Houston; sister Reba Hicks and husband JC of Frankston; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Wade Cook, Trent Cook, Keith McDonald, Kevin McDonald, Peter Kuczkowski, and Joe Hicks.

Roy Long

Funeral services for Roy “Roy Boy” Long, 51, of Frankston, were held Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. George Folmar officiating.

Interment was at Old Bethel Cemetery in Frankston.

Mr. Long passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Tyler. He was born April 12, 1963, in Nacogdoches.

Roy was a carpenter in the construction industry.

He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Cumy Long; brother Lonnie Emerson; and sister Glenda Robinson.

Survivors include his wife Deborah Haynes-Long of Frankston; daughters Chelsea Hale and husband Phillip of Kansas, Christina Alvaradto of Nacogdoches, Paula Stanley of Houston; son Michael Newman and wife Miranda of Perryton; sisters Brend Bowers of Bullard, Gloria Beers of AK; brothers R. V. Emerson and Walter Scoggins, both of Nacogdoches, Wymon Emerson of California; sister-in-law Cheryl Jewett and husband Wayne of Frankston; brothers-in-law Leonard Newman of Tyler, Robert Newman and wife Glenda of Colorado; grandkids Kalab Cower and Skyler Hale, both of Kansas, Braydon Newman and Ruston Newman, both of Perryton, Kristy Segura and Marie Alvaradto, both of Nacogdoches; nieces and nephews Wesley and Jennifer Newman of Gilmer, Lexi Jewett of Chapel Hill, Kristopher Newman of Bullard, Scott Newman of Colorado, Jason Newman of Tyler, Michael and Sabrina Robinson of Huntsville, Bobby Wright of Frankston, Jennifer and Brock Different of Colorado, Britney Newman of Tyler; great-nieces and nephews Raegan Newman of Gilmer and Bryce Different of Colorado.

Honorary pallbearers were R. D. Hutchison, Charles Hutchison, Darrell Ford, and DeWight Carro.
