Audrey Melcher Fitzgerald

Audrey Melcher Fitzgerald is at peace after a graceful battle with bladder cancer. She was a Christian, wife, mom, nanny, sister, aunt, friend, and always a teacher. She taught school for 34 years, teaching most of those in Frankston and the rest in Grapeland and LaGrange.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Frankston. She loved her Lord, family, friends, and life in that order. She always had a smile and kind heart for anyone willing to accept it. She will be deeply missed by all that she touched through her love, friendship, teaching and smile.

She is preceded in death by her parents Willie Melcher and Edmund and Adeline Harbers; sisters Ethel Melcher and Annie Lee Dunk; sister-in-law Nettie Mae Freudenberg; mother-in-law Kathleen Cook Fitzgerald; son Keno Fitzgerald; twin grandsons Ramsey and Easton Powell; and many dogs.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years Don Fitzgerald; her son and daughter-in-law Drew and Jayne Fitzgerald; daughter and son-in-law Tish and Justin Powell all of Frankston; brother James Freudenberg and brother-in-law Monroe Dunk both of LaGrange; her adoring grandchildren Ryan Drew Fitzgerald and Ayden Kathleen Powell; and last but certainly not least “her” dog, Cassie. She is also survived by special family friends Shelley and Josh Vaughn, the Tony and Mary Jane Herrington family, several nieces and nephews, large extended family and a town full of loving, caring friends.

Pallbearers were Trent Cook, Billy Dunk, Bruce Freudenberg, Randy Freudenberg, Gardan Gerdes, Kevin McDonald, and Randy Proske.

Funeral services were held April 4, at the Family Life Center of the United Methodist Church in Frankston.

Memorials may be made to The United Methodist Church Frankston, Frankston Depot Library, or Hospice of East Texas.

Lois E. Smith Terry

Funeral services for Lois E. Smith Terry, 87, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Frankston, with the Rev. James Farmer officiating.

Burial will be at Wofford Cemetery, Frankston.

Mrs. Terry passed away Tuesday, April 10, in Jacksonville.

She was born May 30, 1924, in Frankston.

Mrs. Terry was a homemaker and a member of Lake Palestine Area Church of Frankston.

She is preceded in death by her parents Daniel Nathaniel and Willie Belle Smith; brothers Lewis, Dean, Dwight, and Winfred Smith; and sister Geneva Jane Morris.

Survivors include her husband James L. Terry of Jacksonville; sons Thomas J. Crouch of Maydelle, Jerry Crouch and wife Brenda of Elkhart, and Danny Crouch and wife Jimmie of Maydelle; daughter Sue Bearden and husband Larry of Jacksonville; step-son Billy W. Terry and wife Ruthie of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jess Allen Martin, Seth Logan Martin, Danny Paul Ramsey, Curtis Ramsey, Dustin Ramsey, and Wade Crouch.

Honorary pallbearers will be “Little Beaver” Franklin and Christopher Bearden.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Charlie Gene ‘Red’ Brumit

Funeral services for Charlie Gene “Red” Brumit, 60, of Jacksonville, were held Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Don Copeland and the Rev. George Folmar officiating.

Burial was held at Providence Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Mr. Brumit passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, in Tyler after an extended illness.

He was born January 27, 1952, in Sweetwater, Texas.

Mr. Brumit was a member of Rocky Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Dialville and was a retired truck driver.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Marie Brumit; and brothers and sisters Treese Brumit, Ailleen Lytle, Lewis Brumit and Henry Brumit.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years Glinda Brumit of Jacksonville; sons and daughters-in-law David and April Brumit of Frankston, and Kenneth and Trina Brumit of Texarkana, and Anthony and Nichole Brumit of Jacksonville; brother and sister-in-law Billy and Mary Brumit of Jacksonville; sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley and Danny Watson of Arkansas and Sharon and Carlos George of Maydelle; grandsons Austin and Tyler Brumit, Mason Hassell, Dakotah, Shawn, and Bryson Brumit.

Pallbearers were Mike Ramsey, Bruce Gay, Brian Gay, Ricky Carpenter, Joe Hammons and David Westbrook. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Lee Brumit, Billy Brumit, Alvin Hammons, Bobby Dotson and Daryl Cheek.

Doris Novaline Hobson

Funeral services for Doris Novaline Hobson, 90, of Kemp, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Bailey & Foster Chapel in Palestine, with Bro. Russell Bryan officiating.

Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.

Mrs. Hobson passed away Monday at her residence. She was born February 18, 1922, in Anderson County, to Rebel Lone and Clemmie Urina Pierce McLen.

She was a retired steno clerk for United Telephone Company, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Kemp and formerly a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Berryville.

She loved cooking, gardening and her flowers.

Mrs. Hobson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years Edward Lee Hobson, who passed away in 2008; sister Polly Capper; and brother Jack McLen.

She is survived by sons Mike Hobson and wife Linda of Kaufman and Tim Hobson and wife Carla of Anna; nephew Jim Capper of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Chris Hobson, Brandi Hobson, Barry Hobson, Bradly Hobson and Heather Gesino; great grandchildren Anna Hobson, Sebastian Manning, Ben Hobson and Xander Herod.

Jimmy Lewis Dickerson

Memorial services for Jimmy Lewis Dickerson, 80, of Poynor, were held Friday, April 13, 2012, at Poynor Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Boyte and the Rev. Jack Jeter officiating.

Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mr. Dickerson passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in Tyler.

He was born June 19, 1931, in Poynor.

Mr. Dickerson was a member of Brick Layers Local #5 for 60 years. He was also a retired instructor at TVCC. He was an avid gardener and had a love for horses. Mr. Dickerson loved to fish and hunt, reminisce with his friends, and was a member of Poynor Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband and father, a loving grandfather and great grandfather, and will be greatly missed by his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Farris C. and Bessie Kitchen Dickerson; son Joe Don Dickerson; brothers Preston and Eugene Dickerson; and sister Lucille Taylor.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Nelda Dickerson of Poynor; sons James Dickerson of Poynor and Jeff Dickerson and wife Kimberley of LaRue; five grandchildren Jennifer, Jaime, Josh, Courtney, and Tasha; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pauline Lancaster Perry

Funeral services for Pauline Lancaster Perry, 97, of Frankston, were held Friday, April 20, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Frankston.

Burial was held at Frankston City Cemetery.

Services were under direction of Autry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Perry passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012, in Tyler.

She was born April 15, 1915, in Murchison, Texas.

Mrs. Perry was a member of United Methodist Church in Frankston and was a retired employee of Frankston Box Factory, having worked in the production department.

She is preceded in death by her parents John Albert Lancaster and Sarah Elizabeth Johnson Lancaster; husbands Frank Wagoner and Sant Perry; brothers Paul Lancaster and John Weldon Lancaster; sisters Gertrude Ogden and Sue Sartor; son Tom Wagoner; and daughter Sandy Perry Vaughan.

Survivors include son Dan Wagoner of LaRue; daughter Bettie Holcomb and husband Bubba of LaRue; daughter-in-law Faye Martin of Dogwood City; twelve grandchildren Tom Wagoner, Jr., Michael Wagoner and Ruby, Teressa Hawkins and Brian, Danica Chalk and Mark, Melanie Richardson, Paul Wagoner and Cathy, Seth Wagoner, Shondra Howell, Farrah Wathen and Jr., Dustin Holcomb, Jeremy Holcomb and Cortney, and Casey Holcomb; 20 great-grandchildren Kayla, Emily, Abigail and Bailey Wagoner, Cain Wagoner, Avery Holcomb, Camden Holcomb, Jordan and Carson Chalk, Blake and Alysa Richardson, Keeli Wathen, Trey Ingram, Jesse Newman, Kyle Wagoner, Samantha Wagoner, Brayden, Hannah, Brittany, and Blaine Wagoner, Brittany, Tyler, Hailey, and Joelle Hawkins; nephews Alan Gaston, John Sartor, David Ogden, and Kenneth Ogden; special friends Vivian Folmar, Joy Lookabaugh, and Theresa Johnson and girls Daphne and Khristi, all of Frankston; and caregivers Pat Ricks and Alice Woods.

Pallbearers were Paul Wagoner, Dustin Holcomb, Jeremy Holcomb, Casey Holcomb, Michael Wagoner, Mark Chalk, Jordan Chalk, Carson Chalk, Seth Wagoner, and William “Jr.” Wathen.

Thada E. Hawkins

Thada E. Hawkins of LaRue went home to be with her heavenly father on April 17, 2012, in Athens, Texas.

Thada was born Sept. 4, 1931, in Sapulpa, Okla. to James Septemus William Glover and Ruthada Roberts Glover.

Thada worked as an executive for E.D.S.

She is a member of LaRue United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years John Hawkins of LaRue; three daughters Kathy and husband Mike Powers, Karen and husband Peter Nieft, Sheila and husband Gary Janssen; one son Russell Hawkins, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service was held Saturday, May 5, 2012, at LaRue United Methodist Church.
