Obituaries for Sept. 4, 2014
Mac Hanna
Funeral services for A. Mac Hanna, 71, of Poynor, was to have been held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at LaPoynor Church of Christ in Poynor under the direction of Autry Funeral Home of Frankston with John Haffner and Steve Handley officiating.
Burial was to have been in Poynor Cemetery.
Mr. Hanna died Sunday, August 31, 2014, in Tyler.
He was born May 27, 1943, in Athens, to Clyde Lee and Ara Edna Hanna.
Mr. Hanna graduated from La Poynor in 1961 and received his Bachelor Degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1990. He taught school in Brownsboro, at John Tyler High School and Moore Middle School. He was a member of La Poynor Church of Christ. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their recreational vehicle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Hanna, and a sister, June McKnight.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, JoAnn Hanna of Poynor; sons, Tony Hanna and wife, Connie, of Troup, David Hanna of West Virginia, Thomas Martin of Missouri, Lee Martin and wife, Tamara, of Colorado; daughters, Regina Hanna of West Virginia, Julie Nichols and husband, Dustin, of Troup, Alice Gracey and husband, Jimmy, of Poynor; sister, Nancy Stone and husband, Randall, of Lindale; brother, Bill Hanna of Louisiana; 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Johnny Burks, Brent Hoffman, Ken Gaunt, Bill Hardin, Jim Sustaire and Brian Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Morris, J.D. Smith, and Glenn Johnson.
Visitation was to have begun on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston.

Michael McHale
Funeral services for Michael McHale, 61, of Jacksonville, were held Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with Craig Harris officiating.
Interment with military honors was at Poynor Cemetery in Poynor.
Mr. McHale was born on March 13, 1953, in Fort Worth. He grew up the majority of his life in Azle, Texas.
During high school, he played football and was a member of the Golden Gloves boxing club.
Michael’s accomplishments included that he was a 1970 Golden Globes Middle Weight Champion and only lost one fight. He graduated with honors from Azle High School in 1971.
Michael received an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy in 1971. After attending the Academy, he then enlisted in the Air Force in 1973. He married Linda O’Riley and became the father of two children, Timothy Michael McHale and Kimberly McHale Tull.
While in the Air Force Reserve, he was deployed to Desert Storm in 1991. Michael also worked as a logistic engineer for General Dynamics for ten years. He then relocated to Robins Air Force and continued his military career. While in Georgia he met and married Phyllis Purvis.
Michael understood the value of higher education and achieved his masters degree in science from Georgia College. He continued his career until eventually retiring from the Air Force in 2003.
In 2007, he accepted a position in California as a civil servant for Aerospace Logistics Department of the Air Force. While in California, Michael was considered a valuable member of their team upon his death in 2014.
Mr. McHale passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, in Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by his parents Olin and Jennia McLane McHale.
Survivors include his son Timothy McHale and wife Mackenzie of Ft. Worth; daughter Kimberly McHale Tull and husband Dustin of Ft.Worth; sisters Bonnie Conley of Tyler, Jenolin Herrington and husband Michael of Brushy Creek; brother Edward McHale and wife Evelyn of Frankston; and three grandchildren Lochlan McHale, Sullivan McHale, and Isaac Tull. Pallbearers were provided by the U.S. Air Force.

Pauline McKee
Funeral services for (Thelma) Pauline McKee, 87, of LaRue, were held Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at Midway Baptist Church in LaRue, with the Rev. James Johnston officiating.
She passed away peacefully at East Texas Medical Center, Tyler, on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014,at 11:06 a.m.
Pallbearers included Paul Holser, Joseph Caracausa, Ronnie Berryhill, Tommy Hilton, Gary Hilton, and Roger Hilton, with Billy Berryhill as honorary pallbearer. Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.
Pauline was born on Jan. 3, 1927, in Sanger, Texas, to N. E. and Beaulah Vaughan Gary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Orville McKee; sisters Inez Shelton of Wautauga and Effie Lee Jones of Sanger; and brother Hershel Gary of Sanger.
Survivors include daughters of her heart Susan Hilton (and husband Gary), and Debbie Nix of Palestine; nieces Margie O’Dell of Irving, Ruth Owens of Blue Ridge, and JoElla Judge of Sanger; and nephews Gene Gary of Gonzales, Scotty Gary of Sanger, and Oscar Shelton of Sanger.
Pauline had a sweet spirit and loving heart and God blessed her with the ability to remain independent and active up until the week prior to her death.
She was a long-time member of Midway Baptist Church and loved her church family and the Lord.
Louise Horn
Louise A. Horn, 93, a former resident of Frankston, died Sept. 8, 2014, at Cartmell Home for the Aged in Palestine.
A Mass was held Wednesday, Sept. 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial in the Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine.
Mrs. Horn was born Nov. 22, 1920, in Cotton Gin, Texas, to Will and Frances Barkouskie. She retired from Murry’s Corporation after 15 years of service as an inspector. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mexia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Howard Horn; and sister, Dorothy Lahrmann.
Survivors include her stepchildren, Dorothy Brown of Arlington, Billie Bacon and husband Terry of Frankston, Mary Huffman of Fort Worth, James Horn Jr. and wife Donna of Arlington, and Bernadette Stone and husband W. N. of Palestine.
Micheal Miller
Micheal Miller, a charter member of the Men’s Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5073 in Frankston, died on Saturday, Sept. 13, at East Texas Hospice.
Mr. Miller, a resident of Bullard and a life-long bachelor, was born in Tamalima, California, on Nov. 4, 1958, to Ray and Mary Miller. He was a restaurant worker before becoming disabled.
A memorial service for him will be held at the VFW Post of Hwy. 175 West in Frankston at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12.
Survivors include his father, Ray Miller of Bullard, and brother, Rick Miller of Bullard; and many nieces and nephews.
His mother and two brothers preceded him in death.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the Men’s Auxiliary’s fund for research to fight cancer.
