Winford ‘W. D.’ Richardson

Funeral services for Winford “W.D.” Richardson, 81, of Tyler, were held Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, in the chapel of Jackson’s Burks Walker Tippit funeral home with the Rev. J.H. Griffen officiating.

Interment followed in the Frankston City Cemetery. 

W.D. was born on August 18, 1934, in Fincastle to Remus and Eva Richardson. 

He retired from the Tyler Police Department and was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Tyler Masonic Lodge 1233 and the Sharon Shrine Temple. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lola Richardson of Tyler; daughter Gloria Knight and husband, Bobby, of Gladewater; 6 grandchildren Johnny Dale and Wesly Crocker, Billy McCrary, Jeremy, Alicia and Heath Knight; ten great-grandchildren Tessa, Lyric, Azalea and Trinity Crocker, Aiden Pyle, Savanah-Gracelyn McCrary, Caiden and Kory Knight, Dusty Morgan and Reilly Holt and his mother in-law Opal Bragg. 

He is preceded in death by a son Gaylon Dale Richardson; daughters Anita Sue Richardson and Charlotte Cain; and sister Evelyn Fondell Henderson.

Pallbearers were Bill Wells, John Robert Perdue, Bobby McLean, John Weaver, Leo Britton and Charles Stein. 

Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Tyler Police Department.

Gladys Overton

Graveside services for Gladys Overton, 79, of Lake Palestine, were held Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, at Frankston City Cemetery with the Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating.

Services were under direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.

Mrs. Overton passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, in Tyler.

She was born March 22, 1936, in Frankston to Alex and Winne Beard. Gladys enjoyed painting and spending time with her grandkids who were the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 60 years, Bill Overton of Lake Palestine; son, Andy Overton and wife Michelle of Argyle; two sisters, Mary Randall of Cash, and Novalene Burris of Dallas. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Nicole and Billy Overton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rather than customary condolences, donations in memory of Gladys may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas 75701.

Cathey Westbrook

Funeral services for Cathey Westbrook, 64, of Frankston, were held Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Frankston with the Rev. Scott Wylie officiating.

Eulogy will be read by Kyle Coby Pewitt.

Interment was at Frankston City Cemetery. Services were under the direction Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.

Mrs. Westbrook passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, in Frankston.

She was born Jan. 11, 1951, in Dallas to William and Lauretia Trammell.

Cathey was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Frankston, director of the nursery for 30 plus years and led the Wednesday night Mission Friends.

In her younger years, she enjoyed cross-stitching but was known mostly for being a caregiver to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda Smith.

Survivors include her sons, Kevin Westbrook of Lewisville, Keith Westbrook and wife Randi of Frankston; brother, Rusty Trammell and wife Bonnie of Livingston; sister, Louise Trammell Pewitt Getz and husband Phil of Hurst; grandchildren, Keaton and Jake Westbrook; nieces and nephews, Andrea Lowe, Aaron Hickman, Sheri Jenkins, Kyle Coby Pewitt, Cindy Kilgo, Heather Sklar, Christy Trammell, Katelyn Trammell, Trevor Trammell, and Randall Jenkins.

Pallbearers were Jason Bizzell, Ryan Bizzell, Vance Dallas, Kyle Dezern, Josh Hokit, Matt Nally, Clint Wedgeworth, and Keith Wedgeworth.

Honorary pallbearers were Mack Costlow, Michael Costlow, Grant McDonald, Joby McDonald, Danny Russell, and Michael Strait.

Robert Andrew Glass

Graveside services for Robert Andrew Glass, 83, of Brownsboro, were held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Foster Cemetery in Poynor with the Rev. Billy McClain officiating. Burial was under direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Glass passed away Nov. 3, 2015, in Brownsboro. He was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Chandler. He retired from the United States Air Force and Exxon Oil Company.

He is preceded in death by wife, Troy Dean Glass and parents, Robert and Gladys Glass.

Survivors include son, Robert Wilson Glass and wife Kathy of Montgomery; daughters, Randal Kay Alders and husband Steve of Montgomery, Billie Anderson and husband Vance of Brownsboro, Deanna Montrose and husband John of Poynor; sister, Billie Sue Ellis of Tyler; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Vance Anderson, John Montrose, Steve Alders, Adam Anderson, Zachary Anderson, Cole Montrose, Brett Pyles, and Blaine Pyles.

Dorothy Elizabeth ‘Granny’ Summit

Funeral services for Dorothy Elizabeth “Granny” Summit, 90, of Poynor, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at Autry Funeral Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. Scott Brown officiating. She will be laid to rest at Poynor Cemetery.

Summit passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 in Poynor. She was born March 26, 1925, in a house in Hill County, Texas, to Stanley Howard Greenhill, Sr. and Alma Lois (Coggins) Greenhill. Dorothy was a homemaker.

She loved her family and was an avid reader of great westerns. She also quilted and enjoyed eating from the bounties of her vegetable garden. Dorothy painted oil portraits for Olan Mills Studios in Dallas in her younger years.

In 1940, at the age of 15, Dorothy was at a tent revival when she was baptized and joined the Lakenon Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Creo Alec Summit; granddaughter, Valarie Price; great-granddaughter, Katlin Price Nelson; sons in-law, Spencer Nelson and David Price; and brother, Stanley Howard Greenhill, Jr.

Left to mourn her passing are her sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Rivers and wife Dee of Richardson, John Summit and wife Alexis of Keller; daughters and son in-law, Nancy Price of Sunset, Pam Stinson and husband Jim of Poynor. There are ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jason Stinson, Justin Stinson, Trafton Morgan, Byron Summit, Jonathan Summit and Jennifer McClenaghan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Summit and Vaughn Brooks.

Sophia ‘Sophie’ Claire Ethridge

Sophia (Sophie) Claire Etheridge was born Jan. 9, 2001, in Denver, Colorodo and passed away Nov. 11, 2015, in Plano, Texas.

She is survived by her loving parents, Claire Bennett of Centennial CO, and Mark Etheridge and partner, Laura Dorsett of Plano; sister Alexis Etheridge of Irving; grandmother Georgia Etheridge of Reese community; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and pet schnauzer Crimson.

She was preceded in death by grandparents Irving Bennett, Florence Skinner of Denver and Travis Etheridge of the Reese community.

A Texan at heart with Aggie spirit, she loved all critters.

Her passions included playing piano; watching (and drawing) anime and manga; creating visual art with various media; and playing video games.

She was a sweet, polite, multi-talented, quirky, meticulous, unique, smart, special, and beautiful person.

She was loved by many and touched countless more.
