Patricia Clay Mitchell Walker

Patricia Clay Mitchell Walker, 74, passed away in the evening hours on May 4, 2019, after a short illness.

Patricia was born on July 21, 1944, to Dennis Clay Mitchell and Clara Bell Cook Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Kara Lynne Walker.

Patricia was a lifetime resident of the Frankston area. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doyle A. Walker of Frankston; one daughter, Kimberly Walker, Frankston; one son, Doyle A. Walker Jr., Frankston; grandson, Joshua Berryhill, Frankston; granddaughter, Crista Knowles and husband William Knowles, Frankston; grandson Jonathon Thrush and wife Samantha Thrush, Dayton, Texas; granddaughter, Kayla Keene, Frankston; three great granddaughters, Michelle Berryhill, Adalyn Berryhill and Amber Knowles; a niece and nephew, and several cousins.

A memorial in her honor will be held at the Poynor Civic Center (12106 Lovers Lane, Poynor, Texas 75782) on June 1, 2019 at 12 p.m.

Patricia enjoyed it when her family and friends would gather for a meal. Anyone that cares to join the family for a meal may bring a covered dish of their choice.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the fourth floor of Ornelas Tower at Christus TMF Hospital. Especially the nurses at nurses' station 4100 of the fourth floor CCU.

John Wallace Hardman III

On Sunday, May 12, 2019, John Wallace Hardman III passed away peacefully at his home in Eastland, Texas, at age 71. 

Johnny was born in Jacksonville on April 2, 1948, and lived in Frankston most of his life. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Belinda Springfield Hardman; parents, John W. Hardman Jr. and Janice McLane Hardman; and brother David Hardman. 

He is survived by his three daughters, Juliann Hardman, Jennifer Montoya and Jessica Cozart; and grandchildren Ethan Montoya, Belinda Hardman and Riggin Cozart. His sisters are Jana Beard and Jeanie Malone. Johnny will also be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. 

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Frankston City Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Frankston. 


V.R. Burnett

Funeral services for V.R. Burnett, 93, LaRue was scheduled for 2 P.M. Monday May 20, 2019 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home with Bro. James Johnston officiating. Burial followed at Carroll-Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Burnett passed away Saturday May 18, 2019 in LaRue.

V.R. was born Nov. 26, 1925 in Dallas to the late Jesse Leroy and Aggie Mae Wright Burnett. In his early years V.R. and his family lived in Dallas where he was owner and operator of Burnett trucking hauling JAX Beer from New Orleans to Dallas. After deciding Dallas was not the place, he wanted to raise his children V.R. moved his family to Henderson County where he started his heavy equipment contracting business which he named Burnett & Sons Inc. which became very successful. In his spare time V.R. became an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 75 years and the love of his life Ada Nell Burnett of LaRue, sons; Danny Burnett and wife Mattie of Fairfield, Donny Burnett and wife Martha of LaRue, daughters; Judy Pritchard and husband David of Bulverde, Patty Palmer and husband Edward of LaRue, 10 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Brent Burnett, Bryan Burnett, Brandon Burnett, Josh Palmer, Justin Palmer and Tex Palmer.

Honorary pallbearers were Kelly Carnes, Travis Carnes and Butch Griffin.

Visitation for family and friends was held Monday from 1-2 P.M. prior to the service.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Genesis Hospice and Kara, Sissy, Amber, Doris, Janice and Mary Hotard for all the care given to V.R.


Mary Frances Skewes

Mary Frances Skewes, of Frankston and Tyler, Texas and Pittsford, New York, went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2019, at age 91. Mary was the daughter of Joe McDonald Ayres and Erma Lucile Jones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Lee Skewes.

Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Roxanne Skewes; grandchildren: Jonathan, Lydia, and Audrey, as well as other extended family members.

While living in Tyler, Mary was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and participated in Sunday School and New Commers.

Her Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at the Highlands at Pittsford, (100 Hahnemann Trail).

Mack Powell

Mack Powell, of Frankston, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at his sister’s home on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. He was born June 17, 1943, on Mill Run in Athens, Texas, to Doss and Leora (Richardson) Powell. 

Mr. Powell was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was the owner of the Chevron service station in Frankston for a number of years and in his retirement, he ran Mack’s Shade Tree Produce.  

Mack made sure he had the best fruits and vegetables that could be found and always had plenty of Grapeland watermelons on his wagon.

Mack loved people and always enjoyed helping others. At an early age he began helping those who needed help regardless of how big or small the need was. Mack was a jolly person as was evident from his deep laugh that was infectious.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Troy House; brother-in-law, Newlon Rounsavall and a niece, Gail McElroy. 

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Geri Rounsavall of Leagueville and nieces and nephews Lynn Dickerson, Debra Mulholland, Melissa Willingham, Johnny Rounsavall and Tony Rounsavall. He is also survived by several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Wade Dickerson, Cody Dickerson, Tony Rounsavall, Heath Willingham, Chad Willingham, Larry Willingham, J.T. Collard and Johnny Rounsavall. 

Honorary Pallbearers were Mack’s great and great-great nephews.

Visitation was on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 5 to 7 o’clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.
Mack’s funeral service was held at 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston. Bro. Eric Graham officiated. Mr. Powell was laid to rest at Wofford Cemetery in Frankston.
