George Wesley ‘G.W.’ Ward
Funeral services for George Wesley “G.W.” Ward, 88, of Palestine, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Crockett Road Church of Christ with Dan Manuel officiating.
Burial will follow in Rock Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Directors of Palestine.
Mr. Ward passed away Friday, Feb. 4. He was born January 1, 1923 in Montalba, to John Wesley and Bennie Mary Lou Hogg Ward.
He was a member of Crockett Road Church of Christ and the DAV. He was a veteran who entered service on Jan. 26, 1943 at Camp Wolters, Texas.
He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe and U.S. He received the WWII Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, and the Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired February 1, 1965 after 22 years of service.
Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alma Robinson Ward, sister Ruby and brother Donald.
He is survived by three children, daughter Jenny, sons Randy and Lee, two sisters Audrey and Ann (Sissie), one brother Edward (Buddy), seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Condolence calls and viewing will be received one hour prior to service time at the church.

Robbie Lloyd Sheets
Funeral services for Robbie Lloyd Sheets, 52, of Frankston, were held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Calvin Gould officiating.
Burial followed at Earle’s Chapel Cemetery, Jacksonville.
Mr. Sheets passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 in Frankston.
He was born June 12, 1958 in Jacksonville.
Mr. Sheets served in the United States Navy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Sheets; step-father J. L. Ward; grandmothers Georgie Lou Baker and Louise Chamberlain; and brother-in-law Gene Nettles.
Survivors include mother Ann Ward of Frankston; son Cody Ryan Sheets of Portland, Oregon; daughter Ashley Nicole Sheets of Jacksonville; brother Larry Sheets and wife Kimberly of Tyler; sister Lisa Nettles of Maydelle; and several nieces and nephews.
James Anthony ‘Tony’ Tullis
Funeral services for James Anthony “Tony” Tullis, 69, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13, in the sanctuary of A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church in Alto with the Rev. Grover McDaniel and the Rev. J.A. Griffin officiating.
The family will receive friends before the funeral service from 1 p.m. up until service time in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will be in the Alto Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Tony Tullis was born Feb. 5, 1942 in Alto.
At the time of his death, he resided in Jacksonville, and was a former resident of Frankston and Palestine.
He was employed by Isaacs Olds Cadillac in Palestine for many years and later retired from Halliburton where he worked as a diesel mechanic.
Tony passed away in Tyler on Feb. 6, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Baxter Tullis and Joseph Henry Tullis, and brother, Joseph Howell Tullis.
Survivors include: two daughters, Robin Liles and husband Mickey and Tina Hargett and husband John of Jacksonville; sister, Sue Manning and husband Jack of Houston; brother, Mike Tullis of Lake Striker; grandchildren, Crystal Brooks-Ward, Tony Brooks, Derek Birdwell, Amber Minchew, Jessica Hargett and Austin Hargett; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Ward, Gary Ward, McKaila Davis, Meeka Minchew and Hope Brooks.
He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tony Brooks, Derek Birdwell, Josh Ward, Mark Mueller, Dennis Geisleman and EJ Liles.
Honorary pallbearers are Dan Kelton, Jack Manning, Jason Isaacs, Bill Tosh, Hector Duran and staff at Bonner Place.
If desired, the family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society or Hospice of East Texas.
The family would like to say Thank You and express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice of East Texas for the excellent care and comfort that was shown to him in their facility during his stay.
Services are under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk, Texas.

Betty Laverne Chambers
Services for Betty Laverne Chambers, 69, of Ben Wheeler, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Eubank Chapel with Betty Nabors officiating.
Services are under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Burial will be in Prairie Springs Cemetery in Ben Wheeler.
She passed away Feb. 21, 2011 in Tyler.
Mrs. Chambers was born April 7, 1941 in Whitesboro, to Lloyd Daniel and Marion Novella Hurley Nabors.
Betty grew up in Dallas and has lived in Ben Wheeler for the past 34 years.
She enjoyed making dolls, canning and cooking in her spare time. Betty spent many years farming with her late husband.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marion Novella Hurley; husband, David Paul Chambers, Sr.; daughter, Brenda Charolette Kersh; and brother, David Eugene Nabors.
She is survived by four sons; James and Penny Webb of Ben Wheeler, David and Sherry Chambers of Frankston, Lloyd and Lauri Chambers of Brownsboro, Daniel and Stefanie Chambers of Ben Wheeler; father, Lloyd Daniel Nabors; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, five brothers and a very special friend, Charles Webster.
Pallbearers are James Webb IV, Collin Lackey, Dillian Webb, Lloyd Chambers, Jr., Daniel Chambers and Josh Chambers.
The family was to receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
